Can Steph Curry Will Golden State To Another Title?

Every Golden State fan should be huddled up in their basement and praying to their Steph Curry idol right about now. A 43-point masterclass against the Boston Celtics in a crucial Game 4 has just given the advantage back to Golden State in this fantastic NBA final series. Coming into the game down 2-1 in the series, it sure looked like this young, hungry Celtics team were poised to blow past the aging Golden State dynasty.

That was before Steph Curry played the best finals game of any player this year to put the Celtics back in their place and keep Golden State’s title hopes alive. In truth, if not for Steph, Golden State would be watching the Celtics lift their 18th NBA championship tonight. That’s how good he has been.

But how long can he keep this up? Can he really go another three games, with an injured ankle, and will the Warriors to their 7th title (4th with him)? I believe the answer is yes. But with an important caveat.

Steph Curry can keep up a 30–40-point night for the next three games. And he can continue to torch the Celtics phenomenal defense for however long he wishes. That is not the hard part for him. The hard part is getting his supporting cast to start putting up points too.

Klay Thompson again had another cold night, even with his 4th quarter points surge. Draymond Green has again proved that his time as an elite, championship-caliber defender is drawing to a close. And Jordan Poole has again shown that perhaps the pressures of the NBA finals is coming at him too quickly in his young career.

Unfortunately for Steph Curry, those are the three players that he and the Warriors need to come up big over the next two or so weeks. If Klay can start shooting reliably again, Jordan Poole putting up 15-20 points a night on average, Draymond to overcome his performance slump, along with Steph playing this well, then the Celtics stand no chance at winning. Golden State has the talent, motivation, and coaching to win this series. It is just a matter if they can figure out how to put all three pieces together.

Steph Curry will continue to play lights out, but his supporting cast will need to step up if they hope to win a 4th title for their dynasty.
