Bills Have Done The Right Thing By Cutting Matt Araiza

And here I thought that the Deshaun Watson case was going to be the peak of the abuse allegations this offseason. The Buffalo Bills have just released their rookie punter, Matt Araiza, after allegations of him committing a heinous gang rape have occurred.

This case definitely isn’t for the faint of heart, or for, well, anyone really. The allegations against the so called “Punt God”, Matt Araiza, are absolutely horrific and disturbing, and I’m surprised have taken this long to come out. According to the alleged victim of Araiza, the former Bills punter and two of his San Diego State University (his alma matter) football team gang raped the victim in a bedroom during a party.

Yeah, it’s absolutely disgusting (if proven true), and I’m getting sick just having to write about it.

The Bills needed to release Araiza as soon as possible as this story would have dominated every single Bills game this season. Just like how Deshaun Watson’s allegations will follow him and the Browns this season, so would these ones against Araiza and the Bills if he stayed on the team.

Nevertheless, what I don’t understand is why these allegations are just coming out, even though the Bills have known about Araiza and his (alleged) nefarious behavior since July.

Why did it take them so long to “investigate” Araiza? And if they already were, why did it take them so long to announce they were to the public? I hope they weren’t planning on keeping this story quiet, which honestly wouldn’t surprise me at this point.

The NFL has had a terrible offseason with these kinds of abuses and allegations, which has to have damaged the brand of the NFL in the minds of some people.

Thankfully, Buffalo has released Araiza relatively quickly after the allegations were made public as every single media organization would have, rightfully, peppered the team and NFL league office as to why a player with said allegations against him would be allowed to play.

Like I said, it was in the best interest of the Bills and the NFL to keep their, respective, brands somewhat untarnished by releasing Araiza, even though his allegations have not been proven in court yet. It’s as they say in the WWE “best for business”.

Man, this has been such a contentious and difficult offseason for the NFL. I just hope the regular season isn’t filled with more of these kinds of allegations while we wait see if Araiza is guilty of his alleged crimes.
