Last Of Us Remake Is Pricey, But It Really Does Look AWESOME

Why does Naughty Dog have to make this game SO expensive. The Last of Us: Part I remake has surpassed my wildest expectations and looks unbelievable!

Even though this game originally came out in 2013 (nearly a decade ago), it is still one of game I’ve been most excited to play all summer long. This classic transcended the “zombie/post-apocalyptic” genre and helped make Naughty Dog a true Triple A (AAA) gaming studio.

That’s how good the original was.

And that is why I’m SO excited for the remake. It is going to be the original game with modern graphics and technology. Essentially, it will be yet another Game of The Year nominee for the franchise.

I’m so glad that Naughty Dog has decided to remake this game as the 2020 sequel, The Last of Us: Part II, received a mix score with fans…to say the least.

The game had fantastic graphics, customization, accessibility, replay-ability, and combat mechanics, but failed in one key aspect that the first didn’t: it lacked heart.

The story of The Last of Us: Part II was far too brutal, depressing, and lonely for most audiences as Ellie’s epic journey from the first game was dismantled in the second.

The way how her satisfying, rewarding life with Joel was utterly destroyed and dissected to devolve her into a mindless killer was distastefully done by Naughty Dog and Neil Druckman.

Actually, I’m going got stop being so diplomatic and just flat out say that it was dreadful. I get the real world is hard and cruel, and that “realistic” video games should have an aspect of said cruelty in them, but nobody wants to leave a game depressed.

Ellie was my favorite character from the original game and to see how depressed, lonely, and ruthless she became was painful to watch/play. I still don’t understand how Naughty Dog and Neil Druckman thought making the game that dark was going to work.

Anyway, it is the Last of Us: Part I being remade, not Part II. And that is why I’m so excited.

Seeing Ellie, Joel, Tommy, Bill, Marlene, Sarah, Henry, Sam, Tess, and all of the infected (except for the Bloaters; I really hate those guys) again in new character designs and models will be awesome.

However, what I’m most thrilled about is the graphics and combat. From what I’ve seen from the trailers so far, The Last of Us: Part I is going to be one of the “prettiest” games to ever be developed. The scenery looks remarkable and is a true testament to the advancements game developers have made since 2013.

Moreover, the combat appears to be completely reworked and advanced upon from the original. And the combat was quite good in the 2013 game.

I hope they add new content (aside from what is already announced in the $100 Firefly bundle) as it may feel a little too repetitive to the original.

It doesn’t have to be fully fleshed-out side characters or missions, just some new weapons, outfits, buildings, infected models, etc. to refresh the world in our minds.

In reality, I should be asking a lot more from Naughty Dog when they are charging $70 for a remake. But, I’ll let this one slide and see how it performs on my PlayStation 5 before I cast any judgment on the price.

I really hope this game is good when it comes out on September 2nd. For ours and Naughty Dog’s sake. I don’t think the studio can take another Last of Us: Part II level of backlash.
