Erling Haaland Scores Once Again, Man City Steamroll Wolves 3-0

Erling Haaland is simply unstoppable and so is Manchester City. Erling Haaland has scored his 14th goal for the Citizens in just 10 games as Manchester City crushed Wolves 3-0, regaining their place on top of the Premier League.

No one has been able to stop Erling Haaland in this Manchester City team, regardless of if they are playing in England or in Europe. As I said, Erling Haaland now has 14 goals in just 10 games across all competitions (which is utterly insane) and he is breaking every early-season scoring record in his wake.

Poor, Wolves. They really had no chance of stopping him today, even though they had the best statical defense in the league coming into the match.

In fact, Wolves lost this game in the first minute as, only a mere 47 seconds into the match, Phil Foden received the ball down the right wing, flicked in De Bruyne on the overlap, and he whipped a cross past the Wolves defense and right onto the outstretched boot of Jack Grealish to put City up 1-0.

A classic City goal if ever there was one.

A teasing cross/cut back that beat 2-3 defenders to find a wide-open City player, who simply needed to tap the ball into an empty goal. These have been the kinds of goals that have won City 5 of the past 6 Premier Legue titles and a few FA and Carabao Cup along the way too. It’s honestly unstoppable for opposing defenses when executed as well as City have always done.

That’s what makes them so good. They execute these unstoppable goals consistently.

Oh, speaking of unstoppable, Erling Haaland added his trademark goal every game only fifteen minutes later. Now, we’ve seen many of Erling Haaland’s poaching skills around the 18-yard box, such as his uncanny ability to find himself on the end of crosses, great ariel skills, and freak wonder goals.

But, for the most part, we haven’t seen him finish too many chances outside of the box, or when there is a defender in front of him,

Well, that was rectified with his goal today. Haaland picked up the ball in the middle of Wolves’ half, drove to the edge of the penalty box with Wolves defender Max Kilman blocking his path, shifted the ball onto his right foot and blasted a shot past Jose Sa to put City up by two.

Sure, Kilman probably should have done better in closing Haaland down, but that’s not the point of this goal. This goal showed that Erling Haaland can score from any part of the pitch, regardless of who’s in front of him.

Anyway, Wolves fought back as best they could and even nearly managed to score when Neto just scuffed his shot past the far post around the 25′ minute mark. But Wolves other center half, Nathan Collins, sealed his side’s fate when he practically karate kicked Jack Grealish’s chest, obviously getting himself a straight red card.

I’ve got no idea what Collins was thinking as the ball was bouncing in the air, but he had no chance of winning it with a kung-fu-esque kick. It’s a good thing Grealish was able to carry on and not suffer any serious injury, or else Collins would be in for a lengthy suspension on top his current three game ban. The kick was that bad.

Nonetheless, the game was all but over when Nathan Collins was sent off (which was around the 30th minute or so). Wolves sent Ruben Neves into defense to shore up the void left by Nathan Collins, but he was unable to stop Phil Foden’s deft flick for City’s third goal of the game midway through the second half.

With 60% possession and a 90% passing accuracy (I don’t think I’ve ever seen such an accurate passing performance before), Manchester City were easily able to control the pace of the game and walk out of Mollineux with a 3-0 win.

With this win today, and Arsenal not playing until tomorrow, City are now back on top of the Premier League. Yet, with Haaland scoring like a madman and De Bruyne, Foden, Silva, and Gundogan more than capable of picking out a pass/cross for him, I don’t see how City will not end up winning their third straight Premier League title in a row.

With Liverpool struggling to keep up with the Top-4, let alone the title race, there’s no one else left capable of competing with City for the title. Yes, Arsenal fans, I hear you shouting that you guys can, but let’s be real. Arsenal are NOT title contenders…at least for now.

Now is still the Age of Manchester City’s domination over the Premier League, and I don’t see it passing on to another team anytime soon.
