There’s no way gameplay footage from Rockstar’s most anticipated game of all time has just been leaked, right? Well, yes, it has as nearly 100 videos of leaked gameplay footage from GTA 6 has been released to the public by a notorious hacker.
With Rockstar confirming the legitimacy behind all of the leaked footage only a few hours ago, this will undoubtably go down as one of the largest game leaks of all time. For a company as big as Rockstar to have large portions of its highly anticipated sequel to one of its most beloved (and definitely most successful) franchises released years before it was ready is absolutely horrible and heartbreaking, especially for the developers behind the scenes.
All those years of hard work and careful planning for the promotion and mass distribution of GTA 6 has just been washed down the drain as many people now know the key locations, new graphical improvements, new game mechanics, and some minor plot spoilers that Rockstar was keeping secret until a future date.
Just to provide some examples as to how explosive this information is, we now know that GTA 6 WILL feature the franchise’s first female player character, a woman named Lucia, and she will be accompanied for an unknown amount of time by an NPC called Jason, who may or may not also be a player character.
Furthermore, we also know that GTA 6 WILL take place in Vice City and that there will be some mission that involves Lucia and Jason robbing a waffle house and taking prisoners (just like it was during the Red Dead Redemption 2 bank robbery missions).
To be honest, this may be the largest leak in the video game industry’s history as not only has the gameplay, setting locations, player characters, and some story missions been leaked, but there also could be huge reveals about the very story of GTA 6 itself as the hacker behind this confidential material has indicated they are not done releasing private GTA 6 information yet.
According to the hacker who posted all of these GTA 6 development videos, who also claims to be responsible for the highly publicized Uber hack that occurred a few days ago, they have said in the GTA Reddit Forums that they will release more classified GTA 5 and 6 information, such as GTA’s source code and assets, unless they get paid off by Rockstar.
Essentially, this rat is blackmailing Rockstar as they said on the forums, and I quote, “I am looking to negotiate a deal.”
Does this rat have nothing better to do with their life than to ruin the hard work of thousands of devoted, passionate video game developers that take pride in their work and art?
What a mess this is for Rockstar. I hope they, along with the appropriate authorities, find and catch this hacker and lock them up for good.
