And Now The Last Of Us HBO Show Director Is Insulting The Game! (HBO-The Last of Us-Official Trailer)

What is wrong with the people behind The Last of Us? After Neil Druckman made some controversial comments about the future of the Last of Us video games, the HBO show director, Craig Mazin, has now insulted the impact of the very video game he’s adapting.

Could this show get any worse press in the final few weeks leading up to its release? It’s almost like HBO wants the core audience of the show to come into it with anger and disgust.

The Last of Us show director, Craig Mazin, has recently come out and said that the HBO show will be far more impactful and meaningful than the video game ever was as the ‘deaths’ (it’s all just acting anyway) shown on the series is more emotional than “watching pixels die”. Seriously? Did this fool really say this or am I dreaming?

How dumb and bad at marketing can you be to not only insult the very source material YOU ARE ADAPTING onto television, but also alienate the audience and fandom of one of the most successful and beloved video games of all-time. It’s truly remarkable how boneheaded Craig Mazin’s comments were when you look at the overall picture of success for The Last of Us.

In order for The Last of Us to have another season, the core audience of the video game’s fans have to not only love and gobble up the show, but they also have to spread its excellence to their friends who would not normally see another ‘Walking Dead’ copycat.

Now, you and I know that The Last of Us is far better than anything The Walking Dead could ever produce, but the vast majority of the television and HBO audience doesn’t know that. Essentially, this show will be like how Rings of Power and House of the Dragon was perceived in the beginning.

Both shows were coming into their, respective, releases with a lot of baggage and skepticism, though one (House of the Dragon) was able to overcome the initial doubt to earn a Golden Globe nomination for Best Television Series and the other floundered and burned from bad writing, poor character development, horrible marketing, and a cheesy plot.

The Last of Us is in the same boat as those two found themselves to be, yet it seems like Craig Mazin wants to repeat Rings of Power and Amazon’s mistakes.

I mean, how arrogant and out of touch must you be to insult the writing and impact of not only the winner of multiple 2013 Game of the Year awards, but also one of the greatest games of all time? I get Mazin did good work on Chernobyl that earned him an Emmy for writing the script (though, the acting and set designs really carried that series), but it’s not like Mazin hasn’t written some extraordinarily stupid and meaningless scripts too.

Superhero Movie, Scary Movie 4, The Huntsman: Winter’s War, Identity Theft, Senseless, and The Specials all come to mind. And those movies didn’t include any pixel deaths at all.

Oh, and if his writing is so haughty and better than a ‘silly video game’, then why is he also on board to be producing and adaptation of Borderlands? You know, the VIDEO GAME series developed by 2k Games and Take-Two Interactive?

I’m sure Mazin is a nice guy and maybe I’m just reading way too much into his comments, but there’s nothing worse than an obnoxious, out-of-touch, hypocritical Hollywood writer trying to act superior to actual artistic masterpieces.

Man, now I’m annoyed about this Last of Us adaptation. Way to go, Mazin and HBO.
