2023 Golden Globes: Zendaya Conquers Another Award Show With Best Actress Win

2023 Golden Globes: Zendaya Conquers Another Award Show With Best Actress Win (HBO-Euphoria-Euphoria But It's Only the Moments of Happiness Trailer)

She really can’t stop winning, can she? Whether its staring in overwhelming successful and beloved Hollywood blockbusters to picking up every Best Actress award at all the major award shows, Zendaya really has proven herself to be the best actress in the world right now.

It’s so strange to think that only 6 years ago today, Zendaya was earning Teen Choice Award nominations for Choice TV Actress Comedy for her role as K.C. in the Disney Channel’s K.C. Undercover. Man, she really has come far.

Zendaya’s time as Rue Bennett on Euphoria will easily go down as one of the best acting performances in television history.

Not only has she been able to give life to a such a rich, complex, and complicated character, but she has also been able to abandon the pressures and expectations of “a Disney Channel actresses” in doing so. Honestly, it’s not every day you see an actress go from portraying a quicky, comedic kid detective to a funny, complicated, depressed drug addict teen in back-to-back roles.

But that’s exactly what Zendaya has done. And she has been rewarded with her second win for Rue and Euphoria this award season and her 3 major awards for the character portrayal.

Now, the Best Actress in a Drama TV series was rather competitive this year as Emma D’Arcy was nominated for her portrayal as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon, Isabella Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II in The Crown, Hilary Swank as Eileen Fitzgerald in Alaska Daily, and Laura Linney as Wendy Bryde in Ozark were the other four nominated actresses. Realistically, I could make a case for any of these women to have won the award but giving it to Zendaya was definitely the best choice.

Like I said, Zendaya had to pull out all of her acting chops and skills to be able to make a character like Rue so sympathetic and relatable, which is a big reason as to why she has already won two Emmy Awards for the same role.

Nevertheless, as for the body of Zendaya’s work, it’s incredible to have seen her start out as an ordinary, run-of-the-mill Disney Channel actress on Shake It Up, rise up the ranks of Disney to get her own show, and then break out of the safe Disney sphere to take on a huge, controversial, and ultimately life changing role as Rue Bennett in HBO’s Euphoria as only a 23-year-old.

Not many people can achieve half of what Zendaya has done in their own, respective fields in their whole lifetime, let alone doing all of that before turning 30 (she’s still only 26). Plus, with her still signed on as M.J. in the Spiderman saga and her role as Chani in the Dune movies set to expand, the future really is bright for the former child star.

Congratulations, Zendaya, you have more than earned this award!
