Patriots Rehire Bill O’Brien To SAVE The Offense And Mac Jones

Hallelujah, finally there’s an offensive mind running the offense. Robert Kraft has made the first of the changes he promised as he hired Alabama OC and former Patriots coach Bill O’Brien as the new offensive coordinator, ensuring Mac Jones will get a real coach to guide him.

I can’t believe it has taken the intervention of the owner to get an actual offensive mind coordinating the offense.

The only reason why the Patriots have been sitting on their coaches these last two weeks is because Bill Belichick thought he was smarter and cleverer than the entire NFL.

I know he is one of the greatest coaches of all-time as his 6 Super Bowl wins as a HC suggests, but how arrogant must he be to have thought he could develop an inexperienced QB and take a below-average roster to the playoffs with defensive and special teams coaches as the offensive coordinators?

And a FAILED coaches at that!

Matt Patricia and Joe Judge will go down as two of the worst head coaches of the 2010’s as despite learning from one of the greatest coaches of all-time, they won a combined 23 games out of 76 total games they coached, respectively. That’s a winning percentage of just 30%! And Belichick really thought these two buffoons could turn Mac Jones into the next Tom Brady and the Patriots offense into the 2007 18-1 unit?

I don’t want to hear about how Patricia coached the horrible Detroit Lions and Joe Judge coached the lowly New York Giants as we’ve seen this season with both of those teams that a great head coach can turn around even the worst situations.

Anyways, as for the move itself, I really believe this will be the best thing that has ever happened to Mac Jones in his brief football career. Bill O’Brien may have had his flaws as a head coach and GM at the NFL level, but everyone saw how fantastic of a job he did with Bryce Young and the Alabama offense this season as Young was a Heisman Finalist and is most likely going to be the 2nd overall pick this season (which the Texans funnily enough hold).

If O’Brien can implement a system that’s similar to what Josh Mcdaniels had with Jones in his 1st year, then I can see the Patriots rebounding back into the playoffs next year as Jones had the best record and stats amongst all the QBs in his draft prior to this season.

Of course, there needs to be free agent signings and quality players brought in from the draft to shore up the skill positions and the offense line for Mac Jones and Bill O’Brien to have any success, but I believe Kraft knows that.

It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if the Patriots are highly active in the free agent market like they were in 2020, though with Robert Kraft taking a much more proactive role in selecting and signing the talent.

Nevertheless, I’m just glad I don’t have to watch another Patriots game being called by Dumb and Dumber,
