Chelsea And Graham Potter Are In Serious Trouble Now…

This can’t go on if Graham Potter wants to survive into April, let alone the remainder of his 5-year term. Chelsea have lost ANOTHER game in which they were held scoreless, though this time it came at the hands of archrivals Tottenham by a score of 2-0.

Even I’m finding it hard to defend Graham Potter now.

Not only have Chelsea lost their 9TH PREMIER LEAGUE GAME of the season (let alone in all competitions), but they have also failed to score a single goal in their third straight game in all competitions. Moreover, they have only scored 2 goals in their last 10 games in all competitions and have only managed to bury 24 goals in the 27 games Graham Potter has been in charge of the club since taking over in late September.

That’s less than a goal/game! You wouldn’t even see the worst Championship clubs have such horrible goalscoring droughts.

Actually, I shouldn’t say that as Chelsea do have a better goalscoring record than Wigan Athletic (the 24th place team in the Championship at the time of me writing this) over each club’s, respective, last 27 games. Can you guess how many more goals Chelsea have scored than Wigan? 1.

Yes, Wigan Athletic (23 goals scored) have only scored 1 less goal than the might Chelsea football club since Graham Potter has become manager. You can see why Chelsea fans are pulling their hair out in the Stamford Bridge stands after each match.

Though, this loss definitely hurt a lot more than the rest as it was against fierce London-rivals Tottenham.

I don’t want to say that Chelsea was completely horrible and lifeless as they were able to get a few chances, such as Kai Havertz almost sneaking past Fraser Foster in the 67th minute, but this was one of the worst matches I’ve seen from Chelsea under Potter.

All of their attacks were extremely narrow and repetitive, which obviously allowed Spurs’ backline of Emerson Royal, Christian Romero, Eric Dier, Ben Davies, and Clement Lenglet to squeeze together and cut off all the space in front of goal.

It really doesn’t matter if you put Joao Felix, Raheem Sterling, Mykhailo Mudryk, Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech, or Jesus Christ himself in your attack if the opposing team has shut down the only avenue you seek to score from.

In some of Chelsea’s previous games, such as the ones against Dortmund and Southampton, their wingers were able to get wide and in behind the opposing defense. But not today.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s defense was completely rudderless after Thiago Silva went off with an injury after 15 minutes as they fumbled a clearance and didn’t close down Oliver Skipp fast enough on his wonder strike (it really was a fantastic goal…that Kepa should have stopped) just after halftime and failed to mark HARRY KANE on his goal in the 82nd minute.

I mean, how do you forget to mark the most prolific goal scorer in England (Erling Haaland still needs another 100 goals to get on Kane’s level) on a corner kick? It’s simply pathetic.

In truth, the only thing Chelsea did well was picking up yellow and red cards (they had three yellows and had a red card to Ziyech rescinded).

Anyway, Graham Potter must win handedly against Leeds and Borussia Dortmund in Chelsea’s next two games or else I don’t see how Todd Boehly can justify keeping him in the job. Chelsea are rapidly regressing before our very eyes and Potter hasn’t done anything from the sidelines to prevent the slide.

I don’t want to see Potter get sacked as I believe he can be a top manager at this level, but the way Chelsea have imploded since his arrival is scary.

They seriously might not finish within the Top-15 if nothing changes from now to the end of the season.
