Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’s New Trailer Looks Really Promising!

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor's New Trailer Looks Really Promising! (Disney/EA/Lucasfilm-Star Wars Jedi: Survivor-Official Story Trailer)

I hope this game is as good as the last one. The new Star Wars Jedi: Survivor trailer promised a more mature, hardened insight into Cal Kestis and his cohort of friends as they continue their struggle to survive the Empire.

Out of all the EA games that aren’t under the EA Sports label, this might be the one I’m the most excited about. Actually, scratch that, as this game is definitely the one I am most pumped for.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is hands down the best Star Wars game to come out of the Disney ownership era of the brand as its not only the complete opposite of Star Wars Battlefront franchise (which is a greedy, loot-box filled mess of an experience), but also introduces new aspects, elements, and lore to the Star Wars universe right after Order 66 and the rise of the Empire.

Of course, every single Star Wars project to come out of Disney’s studios has been centered after/just before Order 66 and the rise/rule of the Empire, which has saturated the era in the Star Wars timeline, but the video game adaptation market has yet to experience a truly interesting perspective of how the Empire ruled its planets, providences, cities, etc. on a mundane basis.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order did just that as it introduced Cal Kestis, a surviving member of the Jedi Order, as he lived away his days in hiding from the Empire and its Inquisitors on a ship-scrapping planet.

So, to play through Cal’s perspective as he learned to grow out of his fear for the Empire, stormtroopers, his past and his powers, and his guilt of not being able to save his Jedi master from dying on his behalf with the new game mechanics of Cal’s unique force powers was a real joy.

Moreover, it was also great to see how the Empire’s rule affected some of the previously unexplored and the highly explored planets, while also introducing new, unique characters to the lore. All in all, it was a great game that deserved all of its commercial (10M copies sold) and critical (won numerous awards from various outlets) success.

Thus, seeing a new, 5-year grizzled (seriously, Cal has a fresh new beard) Cal Kestis continuing to be a thorn in the Empire’s backside with his updated friends was a promising sign as to style and tone of this game.

Unfortunately, there wasn’t much insight into the plot of the story in this new “story trailer” other than a few shots of Cal and his friends fighting, escaping, and resisting Imperial forces, but I’m guessing there’s going to be a focus on Cal’s ability to control his raw emotions from clouding his force powers. Or something to that affect as that was hinted at with the snippets of dialogue said in the minute and a half long trailer.

Anyway, we won’t have to wait and speculate much longer about Cal Kestis and the story of SW Jedi: Survivor as the game is set to launch April 28th of this year.

Like many, I can’t wait!
