Starfield Has FINALLY Gotten A Concrete Launch Date

Starfield Has FINALLY Gotten A Concrete Launch Date (Bethesda Softworks-Starfield-Official Launch Trailer Announcement)

Years of wait and anticipation can now be pinned down to one day. Bethesda have finally announced the launch date for Starfield as the massively hyped new IP will be releasing September 9th, 2023.

Thank the stars that this was announced as I was getting worried Starfield was about to get another 6-month long delay.

Starfield has easily been one of the most hyped and anticipated games of the past five years as it’s not only the first major Bethesda RPG game release not associated with the Fallout world in the last ten years, but it is also the very first new RPG IP Bethesda has released since the company purchased the rights to the Fallout franchise and made Fallout 3 (2010).

In other words, this could very well be the Game of the Year for 2023 heir apparent, while also having the potential of selling 40M+ units and inspire a 6+ part franchise. And now we know when it’s coming as Bethesda, in a brand-new announcement trailer, officially gave us September 6th as the games launch date.

Still, aside from the obvious reasons, you’re probably wondering why this is such a big deal? Or at least a big enough deal for me and a whole host of bigger publications to write a whole article about? I mean, there’s plenty of games that get announced and unveiled every single day and you don’t see the likes of Forbes, Bloomberg, IGN, PC Gamer, and GameSpot writing about them.

So, what’s the big deal? Well, given Bethesda’s ABSOUTELY AWFUL track record of teasing games that are nowhere near completed (it’s been over 2,000 days since The Elder Scrolls VI teaser trailer dropped), getting a concrete date means this game will (or at least has a 95% chance) be coming out this year.

Bethesda already had to delay Starfield numerous times in the past two years as the game was originally supposed to release November of 2022, and then it was delayed/expected to come out sometime by March of 2023 during its showcase at the XBOX and Bethesda showcase last summer.

But, seeing how its March of 2023 and there’s still no Starfield, being concerned about the game getting delayed for another time would have been totally justifiable if this latest trailer never released. Thankfully, it did, and we all can rest assured that Bethesda’s developers will stick to their September 9th release date. Right?

Eh, to be honest, I’m not so sure as we’ve all been down this road with Bethesda before. Like I said, the company released a trailer for a game in 2018 that was never supposed to be ready before 2024 at the very earliest (its probably going to come out in either 2025 or 2026).

Nevertheless, getting a release date is better than another “Coming Soon” message, so I’ll stop complaining and be grateful for this latest update.

I just hope Starfield is as good as we all think it’s going to be.
