Jedi: Survivor Should Be As Great As Its Predecessor

Jedi: Survivor Should Be As Great As Its Predecessor (Disney/Lucasfilm/Electronic Arts-Star Wars Jedi: Survivor-Final Gameplay Trailer)

There’s not much gameplay footage, but what was released looks very good. EA has just released the final trailer for Jedi: Survivor, and with the little gameplay footage actually shown, the game looks to be just as good as its predecessor.

You’d think a trailer with the title “Final Gameplay Trailer” would actually show more than 3-5 disjointed seconds of gameplay footage heavily edited and intertwined with cutscenes, right?

EA has released its final trailer for Jedi: Survivor during Star Wars Celebration week…and the game appears to be just as finally polished, refined, and detailed as its critically acclaimed predecessor.

So, as I said, this “Final Gameplay Trailer” really wasn’t a gameplay trailer as at least 50% of all footage shown came from either a cutscene, or the intro cutscene to a boss fight, or a quick-time action (which is essentially a mini-cutscene), while the actual gameplay moments were disjointed, incoherently placed together, and just overall not really enough to determine how this game will run.

Nevertheless, given how the gameplay looks pretty identical to the original game, I’m betting we’re in for yet another thrilling adventure with Cal Kestis.

The little in-game combat actually shown off looked really enjoyable, while some of the new force powers (such as throwing stormtroopers into tie-fighters and commandeering speeders, AT-STs, etc.) should be really fun to ragdoll stormtroopers with.

Moreover, the new lightsaber duels with what appeared to be superpowered soldiers (the guy at 1:10 of the trailer) and fallen jedi (the guys at 1:30 and 1:33 of the trailer) look really interesting, and the heightened focus on Merrin as a side character is going to be a great addition to the story and traversing the world.

Even though I have no idea what Merrin’s role is going to be, I have no doubt she’ll be one of the best characters as she simply has one of the best stories being the last living night sister. Plus, having around someone who can actually talk (no offense, BD-1) while adventuring is going to be a relief.

Truthfully, I’m not sure what this game is going to be about as the only thing I can decipher from this trailer is Cal Kestis will face some great challenge testing his dedication to the light side, but I have high hopes this game will live up to the extraordinary success its predecessor brought to the world of Star Wars.

And it really kind of has to as not only has the Star Wars video game scene been practically barren from good games since the OG Battlefront series, but the movies and shows have also not been doing too well (to put it lightly) under Disney’s not-so-watchful eye.

Needless to say, all Star Wars fans would be very appreciative of EA if they don’t screw up this game.
