Dune: Part Two Looks INCREDIBLE

Dune: Part Two Looks INCREDIBLE (Warner Bros. Pictures-Dune: Part Two-Official Trailer)

Denis Villeneuve is one of the true directorial visionaries of our time. Dune: Part Two just had its first official trailer released, and it looks every bit as grand, awe-inspiring, and beautiful as the first movie.

This is the kind of results and praise you get when you treat a franchise with respect and integrity, Disney, Amazon, Warner Bros. (who are actually producing this movie, funnily enough), etc.

The second movie/part to 2020’s Dune has just had its first trailer release, and without being too gushing, the movie looks like one of the best films of the year. Judging just from the success of the first movie and the scenes shown in this trailer, this is going to be one of the best, if not the best, cinematic movies in 2023 as all of the unique, grand, awe-inspiring cinematography was proudly showcased in the 2 and a half minutes of footage shown.

Even though the film won 6 Academy Awards (Best Sound, Best Original Score, Best Film Editing, Best Visual Effects, Best Production Design, and Best Cinematography) and 1 Golden Globe (Best Original Score), I’m standing behind the firm belief that film should have swept the Academy Awards and the Golden Globes. Or, at the very least, director Devis Villeneuve should have won an award for Best Director.

The way how Villeneuve was able to blend all the excellent imagery, cinematography, costume design, CGI, practical effects, the intended visions/messages from Dune author Frank Herbert, and the A-lister Hollywood actors (ex: Timothy Chalamet as Paul Atreides, Oscar Isaac as Leto Atreides, Zendaya as Chani, Stellan Skarsgård as Vladimir Harkonnen, Javie Bardem as Stilgar, Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck, etc.) into a movie that not only has a cohesive, serious, and engrossing plot/story, but also looks as if we are actually in the incredible Dune universe is incredible.

Now, I get the movie was rather long and the plot didn’t really make sense in some instances for non-book readers (such as myself), but my whole attitude towards this movie is a testament to Villeneuve’s greatness.

He was able to excite, intrigue, and attract non-book readers (again, such as myself) into being extremely excited and invested into the story of Dune, which is a lot more than I can say about 90% of the Hollywood directors, writers, producers, etc. of today.

Nevertheless, the first Dune movie was amazing and should have won Best Picture, and I’m certain this new movie will be equally as brilliant.

Again, I don’t know the story of Dune and didn’t spoil the entire story for myself by reading a summary, so I’ve got no idea what to expect or who most of the characters are in the trailer. Obviously, I remember Paul Atreides, Lady Jessica (played by Rebecca Ferguson), Chani, Stilgar, Vladimir Harkonnen and his whole creepy, pale, and very bald family, but that’s about it in terms of the new concepts introduced.

So, I can’t really give a more detailed insight into the story elements shown as I simply don’t know what the hell is going on.

But that’s a good thing as I can’t wait to learn more when this movie comes out November 3rd.
