Manchester City Are Set To Dominate EPL Again

Manchester City really are hogging all of the best forward talent in the world, aren’t they? Not content with having Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden, Bernado Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish, Raheem Sterling, and Gabriel Jesus, they have now gone out and signed Erling Haaland and Julien Alvarez. They really are trying to become a modern-day super team.

Manchester City have already won the Premier League in FOUR of the last five seasons. Yes, four out of five, with their only time not winning in that stretch was to that dominating Liverpool team in 2019/20. Man City have unequivocally dominated English football unlike any other. Perhaps, only the 1990’s/early 2000’s Manchester United teams could compare.

But, even then, United never won the Premier League as dominantly, or as consistently, as this Man City team.

In the time that Pep Guardiola has been at Manchester City, they have never finished lower than 3rd in the league. And, apart from his 1st season at the club, the team has never finished lower than 2nd. That is how dominant and consistent they have been.

They won the Carabao Cup for four years in a row (2017-21). Yes, they won the Carabao Cup for four consecutive seasons. They won the English League Treble (Premier League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup) in 2018/19. They’ve been to a Champions Lague Final (losing 1-0 to Chelsea) in 2021, and they lost 6-5 in the Semi-Finals of the Champions League to Real Madrid this year.

Now, they are adding one of the two most lethal and feared young forwards in European Football, Erling Haaland, and they are adding the brightest talent from South America, Julien Alvarez, to complement an already outstanding squad.

With the team trying to offload out of favor Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling, there will be no issues for placement when the two new forwards come through the training ground doors July 1st.

It is truly remarkable how Manchester City are able to continually retool and rejuvenate their squad to stay relevant and competitive in the Premier League and European Football. It really should be admired.

Oh, I guess I should mention, that a never-ending supply of cash does also help to correct any costly transfer mistake one might make. Or even a few mistakes., such as: Benjamin Mendy ($63M), Claudio Bravo ($20M), Fernan Torres ($37M), Angelino ($13M), Nathan Ake ($50M), Danilo ($33M), Nolito ($20M). And those were all in the Pep Guardiola years.

With competent leadership, money really can buy you anything (apart from a Champions League).
