Why is the reigning SUPERBOWL WINNING QB, Matt Stafford, only an 85 overall? And why is Dak Prescott rated higher than Russell Wilson and Justin Herbet? Ugh, these Madden ratings are awful.
You’d think after 34 years of making Madden games, the ratings team would have mastered the art of judging a player and his talent. Well, clearly, they haven’t as the new Madden 23 quarterback ratings proved the Madden ratings team has never watched an NFL football game.
How can anyone seriously say that Matthew Stafford, who threw for 4,886 yards, 41 TDs, completed 67.2% of his passes, and won the Super Bowl is only an 85 overall. I’m not even a Los Angeles Rams or a Matt Stafford fan and I know he was robbed of a better rating.
And that is just Matt Stafford. You should see how atrocious some other QB ratings are on this list.
As I mentioned earlier, Dak Prescott (89 overall) is rated higher than Russell Wilson (87 overall), Justin Herbert (88 overall), and Deshan Watson (84), which I find just laughable. Dak Prescott is a good QB, but he’s definitely not better than these three guys.
Russell Wilson is a future Hall-of-Famer in the prime of his career, while Justin Herbert and Deshan Watson are two of the most impressive young QBs playing today.
I get why Madden dropped Watson’s from an 86 in Madden 21 (the last game that could be based on him playing live football games) to an 84 in Madden 23 as he didn’t play a single second in the NFL last season. However, I don’t get how Justin Herbert (who was 2nd in the NFL in passing yards with 5,014) and Russell Wilson (who, albeit injured, had 3,113 passing yards, 25 TDs, and only 6 INTs) can be viewed as worse quarterbacks than Prescott.
Dak was handed CeeDee Lamb, Michael Gallop, Amari Cooper, Ezekiel Elliott, Cedrick Wilson III, Tony Pollard, Dalton Schultz, and a Top-10 offensive line last season. I could argue that he underperformed with only 4,449 passing yards and 37 TDs.
Anyway, has anyone seen Matt Ryan’s new overall? I nearly fell out of my seat when I saw that Madden rated him just an 81. I can’t believe how disrespectful the Madden ratings team was to the former Falcons great with that score.
Sure, he and the Atlanta Falcons had a bad year, but to drop him 4 points (he was a respectable 85 in Madden 22, remember) off one mediocre season is insulting. Ezekiel Elliott is still an 88 after two bad years (by his standards) in a row!
I don’t understand Madden ratings anymore. How some of these “raters” get paid for dishing out appalling overalls is beyond me. They need to get a former professional football player/GM/coach/executive/scout to help them out or they’ll never get these rating right.
