Is Everything Okay With Tom Brady?

It’s very rare to see a starting QB go AWOL for eleven days of preseason, let alone Tom Brady doing it. Tom Brady has made his return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after his eleven-day hiatus from the team, though in his return press conference, the legendary QB didn’t sound like his normal self.

I, along with everyone in the media, is probably making more out of this story than what’s its actually worth. Yes, Tom Brady took an unexpected eleven days off from the Bucs training camp and first two preseason games. And, yes, he looked a little rusty in the beginning of that Colts game, though that was only for one possession. He torched the Colts’ defense on the very next series.

But he’s Tom Brady. Everything is going to work out for him and the Bucs this upcoming season.

Not only will they win their division and compete for 1st place in the NFC, but they also have a great chance of winning yet another Super Bowl with Tom Brady as the starting QB. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be fine this season. Yet, that’s not what caught my attention.

What caught my attention is when Tom Brady humbly said, “I’m 45 years old, man, there’s a lot of sh*t going on,” to the room of reporters during his return press conference. I think that this statement pretty much cements the fact that this season will be Tom Brady’s last in the NFL, even if he throws for another 5,000 yards and wins MVP.

We have to remember that Tom Brady is an aberration for every single NFL player in the modern era of the league. There’s never been a guy, going into his mid 40’s, still able to produce at an MVP level, all the while carrying the responsibility of winning the Super Bowl for his franchise. Simply put, Tom Brady is the only players in NFL history that has been able to play for so long, while also being so valuable to their respective team.

He’s a freak of nature (in a good way).

Nevertheless, the older we become, the more life throws us challenges and obstacles. No matter who we are, or how great we are.

I don’t know what’s going on with Tom Brady, and I’m not going to speculate. All I can say is that nearly every other 45-year-old alive has life issues that affect one’s career, no matter what said career is.

That’s probably the case for Tom Brady right now.

Hopefully, TB12’s personal situation get better and he’s able to play a few more seasons in the NFL, though from the way he sounded, I wouldn’t place a bet on it.
