This is such a strange story. Apparently, Paul Pogba has been the victim of an extortion scheme by not only an armed French gang, but also many of his childhood friends and even his own brother, Mathias Pogba.
I can’t believe I’m even writing these words: Paul Pogba, a World Cup winning, world-famous football star for both Juventus, Manchester United, and France, has been extorted hundreds of thousands of euros by his own brother. What kind of world do we live in?
Obviously a crazy one as Paul Pogba has had these extortion threats coming from his brother starting during the last few months of his Manchester United career. According to Paul Pogba and his representatives, a group of Pogba’s childhood friends kidnapped him (as he was back home in France on international duty), brought him into a Paris apartment, and essentially held him for ransom as two armed men (who Pogba didn’t know) demanded €13M from him.
Luckily, Pogba was able to appease the armed men with €100K, which they deemed enough to let him go. Though they would eventually wanted more from him and began to follow him around. This story is INSANE! How didn’t any of the English media outlets pick this back in March/April when this all was happening?
Nonetheless, these men and Pogba’s friends started showing up to his Manchester home, and then to his home in Turin when he left for Juventus, before Pogba eventually figured out who was in charge of the gang: his brother Mathias Pogba. For some strange reason, that’s when Paul Pogba decided to inform Juventus and the police about his extortioners and his brother.
Paul Pogba is far braver (or foolish, depends how you look at this) than I am as I would have told the police the second I left that Paris apartment.
Nevertheless, this story became even crazier as Mathias Pogba recently came out on Twitter and claimed that he had “revelations” about Paul that would destroy his reputation, his career with Juve, and force the French National Team head coach, Didier Deschamps, to keep Pogba out of the France World Cup squad.
According to Mathias, Paul Pogba went to some Muslim hermit/preacher, a marabout, in order to curse Kylian Mbappe and his other French teammates for some unspecified reason.
Furthermore, Mathias also said that he “almost died because of you”, meaning Paul Pogba, and that he’s the “bigger coward, bigger traitor, and bigger hypocrite” than anyone else who’s alive today. A bit dramatic if you ask me, but okay.
I should note that Paul Pogba denies everything (obviously) and has vowed to retort his brother’s claims in court/France’s judicial system.
Anyway, I have never seen a stranger, wilder family dispute story than this one. These are just some CRAZY allegations against Paul Pogba (which I doubt every one of them), and it would be kind of interesting to see what Mathias Pogba has to say…after he’s been put behind bars for extortion.
