No wonder Russell Wilson hasn’t looked like the same QB we saw in Seattle. The Broncos have announced today that the reason why Russell Wilson has been so bad is because he has a partially torn lat.
“A partially torn what?” you’re probably wondering. Well, the actual name of this injury is a partially torn latissimus dorsi muscle, which is a mouthful to say. Nonetheless, this muscle is located just underneath the shoulder blade and right behind/under the rib cage and has a direct impact on the throwing and pulling motion of a human being.
In other words, if this injury is strained/torn, the throwing and pulling mechanics are going to be strained, painful, and result in poor performances on the field. So, essentially, everything we’ve seen from Russell Wilson thus far.
Apparently, Russell Wilson received this injury in the 2nd quarter of the Broncos loss to the Las Vegas Raiders last Sunday, which kind of puts into question why he has been so bad during Weeks 1-3. He had to have gotten injured before the Raiders game, but it morphed into this partially torn latissimus dorsi muscles injury in that matchup. Right?
Otherwise, Russell Wilson just really was playing at a sub-par level without any hinderances from injury. And that should be a really scary thought for all Broncos fans, John Elway, and Nathainel Hackett.
If the Broncos can’t turnaround their fortunes for this season, then I don’t see how President of Football Operations John Elway or HC Nathaniel Hackett will survive this season.
For Hackett, it’s pretty obvious that his transition from an offensive coordinator to a head coach has gone down about as well as the people of Troy letting in the Trojan horse. It has been a disaster.
The Broncos offense has been one of the worst abominations ever put out onto a football field in the past 80 years. To be honest, I think some of the teams from the 1910’s, 20’s, and 30’s, you know, the teams that couldn’t pass the ball forward from the line of scrimmage, may have had better offenses than the one we’ve seen out of Denver thus far.
And for that to have transpired under an “offensive guru” coach, you know he’s been horrible at his job. Even if the Broncos are able to get back on track, Hackett is still probably getting the boot.
As for John Elway, he’s been in charge of six (and going on seven) straight playoff-less seasons as the President of Football Operations of this team. Yes, I know he’s a legend in Denver for not only winning the 2015 Super Bowl as the president, but also for his 15-year career (and two Super Bowl winning seasons) with the team.
Still, how many chances will he get to rebuild the Broncos after already failing six times. The Broncos have one of the longest active playoff droughts in sports going right now. Yeah, I said SPORTS.
Just behind the New York Jet’s 11 season outside the playoffs, the Denver Broncos are second in the NFL for having missed the playoffs for six active, consecutive seasons. And, across the four major sports leagues, the Broncos are tied for the 9th longest active playoff drought.
All of this has come under John Elway’s stewardship.
If they miss the playoffs again, even after trading and paying so much money for Russell Wilson, how can John Elway justify his tenureship as president? Because of a Super Bowl he won seven years ago? That’s like saying Jim Harbaugh should still coach the 49ers because he brought them to the Super Bowl back in 2012. It’s just a ridiculous argument.
Anyway, there will be a lot of changes in Denver this offseason if the struggles, frustration, and utter incompetence continues. And it won’t be pretty, especially for Russell Wilson if his injury continues to worsen because of his insistence to play through it as he’s suiting up for the Broncos matchup this upcoming Monday against the Chargers.
Another primetime game for Denver? Oh, no.
