Is Bayern Munich Really About To Crack The Harry Kane Nut?!?!

This is probably too good to be true for Bayern fans. Former Bayern Munich President Uli Hoeneß has come out and said that if Harry Kane “keeps his word”, the German champions will sign him this summer as the English striker has supposedly agreed to a move.

I feel like this is either a lost in translation moment or Hoeneß is speaking out of his ass.

After seeing an £80M+ bid rejected by Spurs a week or so ago, Bayern Munich have apparently been able to convince Harry Kane to leave Tottenham Hotspur and join the Bavarian giants as former team president Uil Hoeneß said that Harry Kane will sign if he “keeps his word”. And, even though I would love to see Kane in a Bayern shirt, I just don’t think that’s happening this summer.

Okay, I think I understand where Uli Hoeneß is coming from on this story as it wouldn’t surprise me if Harry Kane has agreed to personal terms with Bayern Munich over a move to the 31X German champions. Not only is it far easier for players to get in contact with prospect buying clubs over contract negotiations these days, but it’s also a no brainer to leave Tottenham for Bayern Munich.

I mean, Spurs are a team that hasn’t won a league title in 62 years, a European trophy in 39 years, an FA Cup in 32 years, and a trophy in general since the club’s 2008 victory in the EFL Cup Final (which is 15 years ago now), while Bayern Munich are a team that has won a record 33 Bundesliga titles, a record 11-straight (2012-23) Bundesliga titles, a record 20 DFB-Pokal (German Cup) cups, a record 10 DFB-Pokal supercups, 6 Champions League titles, 10 total European trophies, and 2 FIFA Club World Cups.

These two teams, even though they have similar spending power given the financial might of the Premier League, are just not even in the same stratosphere, let alone ballpark. Or, I guess I should say stadium in this case.

Anyways, Bayern Munich agreeing to personal terms to bring Harry Kane in as their new and much needed main striker to replace the legendary Robert Lewandoski (whom they lost stupidly to Barcelona last summer) is not a surprise. What would be a surprise is if Bayern are able to come to terms with Daniel Levy and Tottenham over a transfer fee.

As I said, Bayern have already seen a huge £80M bid rejected for Kane, despite the forward having an injury history and being 31 years old, as Spurs and Daniel Levy are hoping to get anywhere from £100M-£120M for Kane. And, just as its impossible to negotiate with religious fanatics, it’s impossible to negotiate with Levy on price as the guys more miserly than Ebenezer Scrooge, Mr. Potter, Walder Frey, Mr. Krabs, and King Midas all put together when it comes to transfer fees.

If you want one of Spurs’ players, you’re going to have to pay the Levy tax for them. And it’s a hefty toll to bare.

So, I really don’t think Levy is going to allow Harry Kane to leave for anything under £100M and I highly doubt Bayern have the funds to afford such a transfer fee, so this deal seems dead in the water. Even with Uli Hoeneß  and his guarantees and promises.
