That’s how you do a trailer. The second official trailer released for Dune Part Two the other day, and I can’t express how amazing the story, characters, visual effects, CGI, etc. looked the brief 2 minutes of footage.
If only Denis Villeneuve could direct every single major franchise film as we would never have to worry about a film looking cheap or crony corporate again.
Following up the mega blockbuster in Dune Part One, the second trailer dropped for Dune Part Two showed the movie opening up Frank Herbet’s classic novel series in some of the most amazing visuals, CGI, acting, and character studies I’ve ever seen in just a trailer. And, if I sound like I’m overhyping this trailer slightly…go out and watch it for yourself and tell me I’m wrong. I guarantee you won’t.
Now, it’s really not a great shocker that the two trailers for Dune Part Two, the sequel/continuation of director Denis Villeneuve’s Dune Part One, was going to have otherworldly visuals, CGI, cinematography, etc. as…it’s the sequel/continuation to Dune directed by Denis Villeneuve. Of course, the two trailer were going to look better than nearly every single modern movie.
Still, even though I have not read any of the Dune novels and really wasn’t too much into the Dune universe and lore before the movies, I can easily say that Dune Part One was one of the very best movies released in 2022 (a year with some pretty crappy films) and deserving of the Academy Award for Best Picture. I mean, does anyone even know who won the Oscar for Best Picture in 2022?
No? Well, that’s not shocking as it was Coda…a movie that grossed $1.9M at the box office, was not widely available to watch in markets both domestic and international, grossed $100k during its box office debut, and actually saw its award campaign push cost 10X more (Apple spent $10M) than it earned at the box office.
I’m not going to get into my STRONG dislike of award bait movies such as that this one in this article, so I’ll just get back to saying how brilliant Dune Part One was and the second trailer to Dune Part Two as well.
Truthfully, I can’t give any more insight into the movie or the plotline that follows as I just don’t know what’s going to happen, but I’m pretty confident in saying that Paul Atreides is about to rock the Dune universe in the next atmosphere with his Fremen prophecy.
Of course, I can’t be sure of that, but all of the signs in this trailer hinted at Paul becoming the ultimate leader of the Freeman (or the Lisan al Gaib to be more lore accurate) and waging a holy war of some kind against the Harkonnens and the Imperium.
And, I’m sure all of the acting (especially Timothee Chalamet as Paul, Zendaya as Channi, and Javier Bardem as Stilgar) is going to be amazing and convey the correctly adapted (as we’ve seen in recent adaptation history, that word this thrown around very loosely) story Denis Villeneuve is telling.

Even so, I’m even more excited about watching the masterful cinematography, CGI, and visual effects Villeneuve and his team have in store for this movie as the work they’ve done on the franchise thus far has been nothing short of perfect.
I don’t want to sound overdramatic, but some of the stuff they’ve showcased has been the best CGI, cinematography, and visual effects of any film since Lord of the Rings (well, and of course, other Villeneuve films). And that’s saying A LOT!
We’ll have to wait a little while before we get any more major news about this movie as its set to hit theaters November 3rd, but this trailer was really a work of art. Thank the good lord there’s still some excellent filmmakers in Hollywood today!
