This story is just so random I don’t think even the best fiction writers could make it up. In eager anticipation of the Spurs newest center’s, Victor Wembanyama, debut in the Summer League against the Hornets in Las Vegas, somehow his security guard and Britney Spears got into an altercation.
Is it me or is this the strangest pairing the world has ever seen for a news story about someone getting slapped in the face?
As the San Antinio Spurs and the Charlotte Hornets are set to face off in the Summer League in Las Vegas for a battle of the 2023 1st overall pick, Victor Wembanyama, and the 2023 2nd overall pick, Brandon Miller, Wembanyama and his security detail got into a fight with Britney Spears that saw her getting slapped in the face. And, if you’re questioning your sanity while reading this intro, I was too while writing it.
Now, I know this isn’t the usual sports story I cover, but I really couldn’t pass up talking about it given how weird it is. Essentially, while Victor Wembanyama and his security detail were making their way into the Catch Las Vegas restaurant on the eve of his NBA Summer League debut for the San Antonio Spurs, Britney Spears came running over out of nowhere to try and greet him.
Yet, she must have been quite erratic in her approach as instead of stopping for a picture or a greeting, Wembanyama’s security guard swatted her away and ended up accidentally slapping her in the face. That obviously caused a pretty big incident and one thing led to another before the police got involved.
And, after watching the video, I’m 100% standing behind Wembanyama and his security guard as Britney Spears most certainly looked like a deranged lunatic while trying to greet Wembanyama.
First off, I’m not trying to dump on Britney Spears or anything like that as everyone knows the troubles she’s had through ought her adult life, but the video out on TMZ right now really does her no favors. Not only did she come flying out of nowhere, got really close to Wembanyama without saying who she was, and was going to touch him on the shoulder (as he was turned around), but she also was speaking in some strange American version of a French accent.
I’m not saying that she was purposefully mocking Wembanyama (who is French) but seeing as how Britney Spears is a 41-year-old American woman born in McComb, Mississippi, I’ve got no idea how she picked up a French accent. Anyways, if you watch the video for yourself, you’ll see just how erratic and strange she looks while running up to Wembanyama.
So, if I was his security guard, I would have done the same thing and swatted away her hand as it reached for Wembanyama. It’s just unfortunate (and really hilarious) how he accidently ended up smacking her across the face and knocking her glasses off, though I can also see why Spears was extremely upset afterwards.
It’s not fun to get smacked in the face at any time, and especially so when you appear to be on some strange manic episode running after one of the most famous basketball stars in the world.
Anyways, I hope this incident teaches Victor and his team to STAY AWAY from the clout-chasing crazies in Las Vegas and cities like it in America as this sort of situation can happen.
