Does Blizzard really want to kill their most popular game in years!?!? Blizzard Entertianment just released the first major patch for Season 1 of Diablo 4, and it might very well go down as one of the worst patches in gaming history!
What a disaster this is turning out to be for Blizzard and Diablo 4.
Despite being one of the most popular games of 2023 with tremendous media and “mainstream” coverage, Diablo 4 has just been utterly ruined by Blizzard’s latest patch for the game as so many builds were destroyed over night with terrible debuffs and nerfs. And, to be honest, this is exactly what I expected Blizzard to do.
Is it really a Blizzard game if there isn’t some of the worst debuffs and nerfs of all time that not only make your playthrough 100X harder, but also ensures enemies are killing you in the most ridiculous and game-breaking ways possible? Of course, not…that’s what makes a Blizzard game.
Okay, jokes aside, I really don’t know why Blizzard thought debuffing some of the most classic builds, such as Barbarian, Sorcerers, and Rouges, and DRAMATICALLY slowing the leveling system to a point it could take you a full day just to level up…when it would take on average 1.5 hours to level up (up to level 100) prior to the patch.
Sure, that “full day” level up may be a slight exaggeration, but it’s true that it was extremely noticeable how slowly it took to level up the ranks from before the patch. I understand that a lot of players were rushing through the lower-level bosses and entering the main levels, such as the Lilith and Elias fights, way over leveled, but restricting how fast you can level up to this latest extreme is a massive overcorrection.
I mean, the game is supposed to be enjoyable and challenging, not a grind that questions your sanity as to why you still play a game actively trying to see you fail. This isn’t FromSoftware, it’s Blizzard!
Anyways, there are a few decent changes in the patch, such as the Vulnerability buff getting utterly destroyed so monsters no longer get beaten in a few hits, but those few improvements really don’t negate the damage done to the general gameplay.
It’s just incredibly harder to actually progress in the game as due to Diablo 4’s requirement to complete the main campaign’s act structure before being able to face off the optional bosses, you first need to level up dramatically to reach the campaign levels and optional boss requirement levels.
But, as we’ve established, it is incredibly difficult to level up now as most of the classes have been nerfed, most damages have been nerfed, Vulnerability was gutted, and you now live with the knowledge that all of the past accomplishments you made will just been abnormally 10X harder than it was when you first did them.
It just makes for a horrible gaming experience to say the least.
Still, it’s good to see Blizzard is taking this patch backlash seriously as community development director Adam Fletcher put out a statement saying, “We have been hearing feedback from players regarding some of the changes in 1.1.0 for Diablo IV. We are going to have a Campfire Chat later this week on Friday to talk more about it. We will have more details/timing in the next day. Thanks again for the feedback!”
Diablo IV will now be playable 6 months after the patch instead of the usual 2 years LOL!
