Baldurs Gate 3 & Larian Studios Is SCARING The Triple-A Developers

Baldurs Gate 3 & Larian Studios Is SCARING The Triple-A Developers (Larian Studios-Baldurs Gate 3-Launch Trailer)

This game is reimagining what is possible in the gaming industry. With the insane and well-earned success of Baldurs Gate 3 and its developer Larian Studios, the predictable hate the game is getting from the hack Triple-A game developers is coming in waves.

Whenever there is a groundbreaking, amazing title released in the gaming world by a non-“Triple-A Club” developer, you can be damn well sure the course of hatebirds will be out in full swing.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has been one of the most amazing, creative, and revolutionary games to come to the market in the last five years and millions of fans are praising the title and its developer, Larian Studios, to the high heavens. Yet, as everyone could have predicted, the “Triple-A Club” developers and crony hacks are all on the usual platforms saying the usual stupid things.

Okay, before I get into the meat and bones of this topic, I don’t want to cast every single member of the “Triple-A Club” as a useless, corporate hack. There are tens of thousands of hardworking, dedicated, and highly capable people working behind the scenes (and sometimes in front of the scenes) at the major gaming studios and have put in thousands of hard hours making some of the greatest games of all-time.

Unfortunately for these people, their voices, opinions, talents, and accomplishments are all drowned out by the classic, annoying corporate shills the crony executives of these companies hire to push their corporate agendas on social media and company posts. And that’s exactly what has happened with Baldur’s Gate 3 and Larian Studios.

Despite being a game that features over 170 hours of choice-influenced cinematics, easily has the most player-friendly, choice-based gameplay and ending outcome in gaming history (it’s seriously a masterclass in divergent storytelling), extremely complex and interesting PC options (along with an INSANE level of character customization), very learnable and fun tun-based gameplay (if you’re into it), and had over 800k concurrent Steam players (8th most all-time on the platform) every day this past weekend, Baldurs Gate 3 was actually getting CRITICIZED by a large swab of “Triple-A Club” developers.

On Twitter and other social media platforms, you’ll see these developers calling Baldurs Gate 3 “buggy”, ” has nonsensical detail scope”, “stupidly complex and detailed-filled”, and a game that “should not be used to raise the standards” of the gaming industry.

I’m sorry, but when in the history of human evolution and ingenuity have we ever called a breakthrough moment in a specific field a time when “it should not be used to raise the standards” of that specific field? That’s literally the rhetoric of anti-creativity and anti-ingenuity!

When you see someone have/complete a great, innovative achievement in your field of work, you’d better be inspired to either matching or topping that said feat or else you become instantly obsolete.

To be honest, I’m really haven’t played all that much of Baldur’s Gate 3 as I’m not into the turn-base style of gameplay that the Dungeons and Dragon’s-inspired game is based on, though I will say that the few moments I have played have been brilliant.

The sheer passion, creativity, and attention to detail on player choices, player-choice cinematics, the combat mechanics, character creation, PC, followers, and NPC character growth and development, world-building, terrain, etc. is truly a testament to the brilliance of the modern-day gaming industry.

When studios stop putting microtransactions, season passes, and cut-content-turned-into-DLC money-grabbing practices (all of which Baldur’s Gate 3 doesn’t and never will have), you get grand games like Baldurs Gate 3 and superb studios like Larian Studios. And that’s what you get with games like Elden Ring, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Final Fantasy XVI, and God of War: Ragnarök.

But most of these “Triple-A Club” studios are just too blinded by their own greed, the insatiable greed of “shareholders” (who are mostly just a bunch of faceless hedge funds and these other multi-trillion investment firms), and a disturbing trend of laziness to actually put the time and effort into making games as complex, replayable (without microtransactions), and just fun as possible for us gamers.

And, in either a concerted effort or just being too drunk on their companies’ Kool-Aid, large sections of the developers, journalists, and gaming “insiders” spew this toxic, obnoxiously stupid corporate nonsense that you can see online right now.

But, just like Elden Ring, Final Fantasy XVI, and the other non “Triple-A Club” games, Baldur’s Gate 3 has not been affected whatsoever by these stupid fools as gamers have showed their love and then some with how much they’ve played the game.
