This situation is getting insane. The NBA is now investigating the 76ers and their GM Daryl Morey over the “liar” comments Harden made about his former best GM friend.
Even if Harden has a point about Morey, that guy should never get hired by an NBA team again.
The NBA league office is now looking into the Philadelphia 76ers and their general manager Daryl Morey over the team’s (and his own) action/negotiating practices in the wake of James Harden’s comments about Morey being a “liar”. And, to be perfectly honest, I really don’t care if Morey is a “liar” or not as James Harden is the biggest “liar” and conman in the NBA today.
Okay, the news about James Harden’s public breakup with the 76ers should be fresh in the minds of most NBA fans and definitely searing in the memories of all 76ers faithful, while his comments of “Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he’s a part of” should still be ringing around all NBA circles.
And, as you would know from my previous article about this situation, I think James Harden is a liar and I would never, ever take on James Harden as a player if I was an executive of an NBA team. Not only does he force his way out of every team and never live up to any of his contracts despite getting paid hundreds of millions of dollars, but he also comes up short in the big games.
In his last five elimination games, which ranges from his time with the Rockets, Nets, and 76ers, he scored an average of 21.4 PPG despite averaging closer to 30 PPG for the vast majority of his career and only managed to score 9 points in 2023 (for Philly), 11 points in 2022 (for Philly), and 22 points in 2021 (for Brooklyn). I could go on and on and on about how dreadful Harden has been when the spotlights are shinning brightest upon him, yet that’s not the point of this article.
The point of this article is to show how backwards the NBA is when it comes to dealing with players like Harden. Now, if Harden’s allegations about Morey are true and the GM backtracked on paying Harden “X” amount of dollars or giving him a trade demand from Philly, I sympathize with Harden. If GMs offer player promises and assurances about contract offers or trade demands, they should do their darndest to comply with these promises to the best of their ability.
Yet, even though it’s morally right to a abide by a spoken word, the 76ers and Morey are NOT REQUIRED to abide by it under the NBA collective bargaining agreement. So, I don’t really understand why the NBA is investigating this story as the only thing that should be investigated in my opinion is Harden being held accountable for forcing his way out of THREE CONTRACTS from THREE SEPERATE TEAMS!
I’m all for player empowerment, but what Harden is doing is player tyranny and anarchy mixed into a single, out-of-shape, fat, bearded mess of a player who would rather play for Chinese fans FORCED into cheering and praising him (because I guarantee all those Chinese fans couldn’t pick out Harden from a lineup if it wasn’t for the Chinese government’s emphasis of basketball on their populace).
Nevertheless, we’ll have to wait and see where this situation goes, though I really hope Harden ends up moving to China and never setting foot in the NBA again as he’s bound to single-handedly break the CBA if he signs (and then breaks) another contract for ANOTHER team.
