What the hell is wrong with the people in charge of this club? Napoli might really be the stupidest club ever as they brainless released two Tik-Tok videos MOCKING their own superstar striker Victor Osimhen!
This is just flat out stupid.
Despite relying heavily on Osimhen for their 2022/23 Serie A title win, Napoli are actively PROVOKING and MOCKING the striker during their contract dispute as they released stupid Tik-Tok videos poking fun at the 30+ goal scorer. And, let me say that this might very well go down as one of the dumbest goofs a football club has ever committed.
Okay, for those who don’t know what I’m talking about, Napoli and star striker Victor Osimhen haven’t been on the best of terms these last few months as they haven’t been able to come to terms on a new contract. Yes, Osimhen is making a decent salary right now as he’s on about £160k, yet he’s been one of the most productive goal scorers in Serie A over the last four seasons as he’s racked in 63 goals, he scored a Serie A-high 26 league goals last season, he won the Serie A Golden Boot last year, and he helped Napoli win the Serie A title for the first time since 1990 last year as well.
So, him wanting north of £300k/year and a release clause to prevent Napoli from tying him down forever is definitely not irrational.
You can fall on any side of the argument you want when it comes to Osimhen’s deserved salary, but no one can deny one crucial, extremely important fact: Napoli NEED Victor Osimhen to compete at the highest level in Serie A, while Osihmen DOES NOT NEED Napoli to showcase his talents. And that’s what makes Napoli posting two STUPID Tik-Tok videos about Osimhen utterly asinine.
I mean, this guy is one of the most ruthless, clinical, and young strikers in all of Europe with clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea, Real Madrid, PSG, Arsenal, and Man United all chasing after his signature, and Napoli are openly insulting him? Seriously? He’s still your player!
Now, Napoli did take down the two Tik-Tok videos, with the first one calling Osimhen a coconut as he was holding one in his hands, and the other being a sped-up version of Osimhen calling for a penalty and then missing it, but that’s only because Osimhen and his agent threatened to SUE the club if they didn’t. This situation is just so bizarre as I’ve never seen a professional, top-level club openly use their own social media platforms to mock, belittle, and insult their star player due to some contract dispute with the club.
Who does that?
You’d think a club that has fallen from its glorious heights with Diego Maradona in the 1980’s and early 1990’s to a club that was flopping between divisions in the mid 1990’s and 2000’s would have learned its lesson of proper player management after finally reaching those high point moments again with last season’s title win, but nope. This club is still run like your Sunday league shitshow.
I’m glad Victor Osimhen decided to remain the consummate professional he always has been, even when he would have been justified to throw a temper tantrum, by suiting up for the club this past Sunday and helping them win 4-1 against Verona with a goal, but he needs to leave in January or next summer.
He deserves better than Napoli, and there’s dozens of clubs waiting to sign him and give him that option.
