Red Dead Redemption 3 IS IN DEVELOPMENT…Most Likely

Red Dead Redemption 3 IS IN DEVELOPMENT...Most Likely (Rockstar Games/Take-Two Interactive-Red Dead Redemption 2-Official Trailer #3)

Well, I guess we’ll have to see if this is a credible leak. A recent, most credible leak about Rockstar has said that they’re in the midst of developing the HIGHLY anticipated Red Dead Redemption 3.

This is one of the most popular video game series of all-time, so it has to be getting a sequel? Right?

Despite being one of the tightest-lipped and secretive gaming developers in the gaming sphere, Rockstar has supposedly suffered another leak as it’s been claimed Red Dead Redemption 3 is being actively developed as we speak. And, to be honest, I don’t know if this leak is valid, but obviously the game is being developed.

As I just wrote, who in God’s name knows if this leak is true? So, for those who don’t know what I’m talking about, the leakers MyTimetoShineHello (some name), which has made credible and true (and also false) claims about Marvel projects in the past, has put out claims that Red Dead Redemption 3 is currently being developed by Rockstar.

Yeah, that’s pretty much it.

Now, I know this isn’t a lot to go by and most of these “leaks” that are as short as this one (the tweet literally just is a Red Dead-style picture of a cowboy with Red Dead Redemption plastered in front of it in white, while the actually tweet is “Red Dead Redemption 3 is in the works!”) would go by the wayside, but MyTimetoShoneHello’s reputation as a credible leaking group has been well established.

But, even besides that point, the main reason why I know this leak to be true in some sense is because of how popular the Red Dead Redemption franchise is.

Not only has the original Red Dead Redemption won the 2010 Game of the Year award, but both games are on the all-time list as the highest selling games ever with Red Dead Redemption 1 selling 23M copies and Red Dead Redemption 2 (which should have won GOTY in 2018 but lost out to God of War) selling 55M copies.

If you combine these titles and their copies sold, they have sold more than any single Call of Duty game, Elder Scrolls game, Legend of Zelda game, Blizzard game (aka: Diablo, Overwatch, Starcraft, etc.). Well, actually, you only needed to include the Red Dead Redemption 2 sales to beat out these games, but I thought it would add a little more gravitas to add in Red Dead Redemption 1.

Nevertheless, the sheer volume of sales, popularity, and critical success these games have had would force almost any gaming company in the world to produce more sequels, and Take-Two Interactive, the publisher and owner of Rockstar Games, is about as greedy and crony corporate as they come.

So, obviously, there’s another Red Dead Redemption sequel/prequel in the works, and it has already been confirmed by people far more senior and closer to Rockstar than anyone in MyTimetoShineHello.

Who might that be? Oh, just Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick.

Years ago, Zelnick said in an interview said, ““I don’t know if you saw it, I just saw the new Bond film, that was great. And you would like every franchise to be James Bond. There are precious few entertainment franchises of any sort that fall into that category, but they do exist. And I think GTA is one of them, I think Red Dead is one of them, NBA is obviously one of them because the game [of basketball] will continue to exist.”

Well, there you have it. He’s 100% right about Red Dead Redemption, and so we’ll obviously have a brand-new Red Dead game…which will be Red Dead Redemption 3.
