Can all the Starfield fanatic understand now that this game is a massive dud? Starfield had a clean sweep last night at the Game Awards…in them not winning a single honor despite professing all of their “10/10 reviews…to show how painfully average this game really is.
I’m SUPER, SUPER scared for The Elder Scrolls VI now.
Despite being Todd Howard and Bethesda’s “dream project”, staying years and years in development, and having massive hype and misplaced (which is the kindest way of me saying it) praise behind it, Starfield was completely shut out of the Game Awards from even the most winnable categories as the game’s flat-out averageness was put on full display. And, to be honest, this is what Bethesda deserved.
So, if you guys didn’t watch the Game Awards two nights ago, then you probably didn’t know that Baldur’s Gate 3 came out as the big winner as the game won four awards with the most prestigious one obviously being named the 2023 Game of the Year. Sounds great for Larian Studios and Baldur’s Gate 3, right?
Well, it was. It was a fantastic night for all fans of video gaming and what the industry once was and should always be…but it was a pretty poor night for another major gaming studio that once held the same accolades and praise as Larian Studios and Baldur’s Gate 3 now possess.
Who might that be? Oh, that’s right, it’s Bethesda.
Yes, the once mighty Bethesda, who now is a meager subsidiary company belonging to their corporate overlords in Microsoft, were completely shut out of any and ALL awards last night as Starfield came out as one of the biggest losers. And I’m still saying that even after Starfield was only nominated for one award: Best RPG…which they lost to Baldur’s Gate 3.
But, to be honest, losing out on the Game Awards for Starfield was always going to happen as they not only made a far inferior game compared to its major competitors in Alan Wake 2, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Baldur’s Gate 3, and the Resident Evil 4 Remake, but they also didn’t even make the best RPG game of 2023. That would obviously be Baldur’s Gate 3…by a country mile.
And that’s what is wrong with Bethesda these days. They have relied far too heavily on their glorious history and have completely rested on their laurels when it has come to their newer titles, and it’s really hurting the company now as it has been 8 years since a Bethesda game last won any major awards from a reputable award distributor. What game was that? Oh, it was just 2015’s Fallout 4.
Yeah, Fallout 4 was the last Bethesda game to win a major award. Do you see the issue here?
All of those pathetic and frankly insulting 10/10 or “masterpiece” reviews for Starfield from frankly bought-and-paid-for journalists and scamy review sites were complete and utter horseshit as the game was at best an okay space RPG with an extremely boring main story, poor game engine (I mean, they still are using the Creation Engine from 2011), poor space mechanics and UI systems, and okay combat systems. If you want an accurate representation of the game, then look at its 6/10 score on Steam.
That’s what the game is. A bland, average, okay 6/10 title…which is NOT what Bethesda should be producing.
So, I hope all of the Starfield fanatics can shut up now and stop spamming how great this game is in all over the internet as now Starfield’s downfall has come into full swing. And I fear The Elder Scrolls VI is next to fall.
