IT IS FINALLY HERE. Rockstar Games has at long last released the first trailer for GTA VI and let me just say that in the few moments we saw, the game looks AWESOME!
I can’t believe we’ve finally gotten this trailer.
After over a decade since the release of the last title, Grand Theft Auto VI has finally gotten its first trailer as Rockstar released the most anticipated video game trailer ever last night. And, to be honest, this might be one of the most impressively designed games of all-time if the trailer is true to the product.
So, I really don’t even know what to say right now. I think I’m still in a state of shock over this trailer ACTUALLY being on YouTube.
It has been so long since GTA V and aside from that massive leak a year or so ago, Rockstar has said absolutely NOTHING about GTA VI and have pretty much treated the game as if it was an unwanted stepchild. That’s how dead all news about Grand Theft Auto VI has been. But then December 5th came and went, and now we have a minute and a half of OFFICAL Grand Theft Auto VI footage.
I still can’t believe I just wrote those words out.
Anyway, getting out of my GTA VI daze to actually be objective and critical of the trailer, I thought it was a fantastic showcase of HOW ADVANCED and DEVELOPED Grand Theft Auto VI looks. I mean, I already had an inclination as to how the game was going to look after seeing some of the leaked footage, but what this trailer showcased is a whole other level of insanity and technical achievement.
Nearly every element I saw, from the character models, animations, landscapes, water physics, character physics, facial expressions, hair and accessory movements, vehicles, budlings, boats, and even the mock-social media videos, etc., all looked next gen-level of detailed and developed. And I don’t mean that lightly.
If the footage shown in this trailer is what we will get in our gameplay when we finally get our hands on GTA VI, then this game will make the likes of Red Dead Redemption 2, Elden Ring, God of War: Ragnarök, Baldur’s Gate, The Legend of Zelda (both Tears of the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild), Resident Evil 4 Remake, Spider-Man 2, and every other fantastic game to have come out in the last 5-6 years look like it was released on the last generation of game engine.
Seriously, GTA VI looks INCREDIBLE…which it really should after we’ve waited 10 years without any hint of timeline, developments, or news for the game, but still. It looks great.
Now, it’s still WAY TOO EARLY to talk about the story or the main protagonists in any great depth, but I have to be honest: I’m not a fan of the early images and set up for Lucia and her Clyde-esque (from Bonnie and Clyde…obviously) boyfriend.
Their BRIEF time in the trailer was easily the weakest aspect of it as they really just seem very bland and vanilla, but I know a lot of people said the same things about Arthur Morgan, Michael, Franklin, Trevor, and probably even John Marston from all those years ago in RDR 1 when their, respective, games were released.
So, I’m not making any stark or definitive judgement on either of the characters just yet as I’ll do that when this game releases in…2025. Yeah, it’s a long wait, but at least we finally have a conclusive date for when this game will come out.
