Yeah, The Cowboys Really Are Useless Chokers…

I thought this could have been the year, but, nope. The Dallas Cowboys have once again proven themselves to be the most pathetic chokers in all of the NFL as they blew a late lead to lose 22-20 to the Miami Dolphins.

What a joke this team is.

Despite having all the talent, ability, backing, and resources to reach NFC title games and perhaps win Super Bowls, the Dallas Cowboys have shown the whole world they are nothing but weak-minded, timid losers as they lost ANOTHER “big-time” game with the Miami Dolphins beating them 22-20 in their Christmas Eve showdown. And, to be honest, I’m fully off the Cowboys hype train now…and for good!

I should have know better. I should have know that the Dallas Cowboys were always going to fail in the biggest of moments!

Yes, I know I have some excuses to pull, such as the Cowboys beating the NFC East-leading Eagles to pull ahead of them in the standings and that the Cowboys were once the 2nd best team in the NFC for a short while, for my reasons in believing this could finally be the Cowboys year to shine, but I’m not going to use any of them. I’m just going to admit I was a fool to trust in the Cowboys to actually win meaningful December and January football games.

So, if you guys didn’t watch the Cowboys vs. Dolphins game last night due to preparing for Christmas Eve…that’s totally reasonable. Nevertheless, I’ll spare you all the trouble of having to rewatch the game or listen to a long-winded recap of the game as I’ll just set the scene for the final four minutes of the game. The Cowboys, who found themselves down 19-13 and really needing to score a touchdown or risk never getting the ball back from Miami’s ruthless offense, were in a 3rd and goal situation at the Miami 8-yard line.

And, as he did most of the night with his 20-32, 253 passing yards, and 2 touchdown stat line, Dak Prescott managed to avoid the Dolphins pressure and lob a beautiful TD pass over Jalen Ramsey and Kader Kohou’s shoulders to find Brandin Cooks to push the Cowboys up 20-19 with around 3:20 seconds left in the game.

What a great result for the Cowboys offense, right? Not only were they able to score the necessary touchdown to give them the lead late on, but they also could sit back on their vaunted defense and allow them to either stop the Dolphins or force them into a field goal situation that would give the Cowboys offense the ball back.

I mean, it’s not like Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins offense would chew away at every single second left because their defense couldn’t get a stop on the final drive after holding the Miami offense to just 19 points in the previous 57 minutes, right?!?! Okay, we all know that’s exactly what happened.

Whether it was a run with Jeff Wilson or Raheem Mostert or Tua dishing the ball out to Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Cedric Wilson, Alec Ingold, or Mostert coming out from the backfield, the Dolphins drove the ball around 35-40 yards (the Cowboys screwed up on the ensuing kickoff), drained the clock down to 2 seconds because the Cowboys couldn’t stop two consecutive 3rd downs, and allowed Jason Sanders to kick an easy 29-yard field goal to win the game 22-20 for the Dolphins and send them to a 2nd-straight postseason appearance as they keep their AFC East division lead at 11-4.

But that’s not the point of this article, even though the result is fantastic for all Dolphins fans and I’m happy for them.

No, as I said, this game just showed how INCOMPETENT and PATHETIC the Dallas Cowboys are against .500< teams in meaningful road games during December and January.

Not only have the Cowboys now lost two straight December road games against .500+ opposition in the Buffalo Bills (31-10 last week) and the Miami Dolphins (22-20 yesterday), but they also have won just since Week 5 (I’m not counting the first four weeks as those records are too sporadic to really tell the whole story).

Seriously, the Cowboys were hammered by the 5-0 49ers (on the road) in Week 5 42-10, beaten by the 8-1 Eagles (on the road) in Week 9 28-23, smashed 31-10 by the 8-6 Bills (on the road) in Week 15, and now they have just been beaten 22-20 by the 11-4 Dolphins. The only team they beat with a winning record (both before and after they faced them…sorry, Cowboys fans, but beating up the .500 Seahawks doesn’t count) was the Eagles two weeks ago…which was during the Eagles 3-game (and counting) losing streak).

I’m not saying this is a bad team, but it most certainly is a pathetic and weak-willed team that will never win anything of note if these players, coaches, and management can’t change their mentality.
