Suicide Squad: KTJL Is An Unmitigated Disaster…

Suicide Squad: KTJL Is An Unmitigated Disaster... (Warner Bros. Entertainment/Rocksteady-Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League-Official Deluxe Edition Trailer)

What a shitshow this game is. Suicide Squad: KTJL might go down as one of the most controversially bad games of all-time with all of the scandals, issues, and shady practices that have plagued its release.

Rocksteady has really fallen far from grace.

Despite having the brand recognition of DC, numerous high-level DC characters taking center stage, and being the final entry into the acclaimed Arkham series, Suicide Squad: KTJL might very well go down as one of the worst games ever with it currently having an opening release straight from hell. And, to be honest, I think this is exactly what Rocksteady and Warner Bros. deserves for treating the Arkham franchise so poorly.

Okay, this is what you would call a disaster release.

Not only has Rocksteady been forced to pull the game down completely after just an hour beyond release and suffered horrific reviews from fans, but they are now facing a legit fan uprising over how they have portrayed the Justice League in this game.

But, before I get into that latter aspect (which is the most controversial of all the issues IMO), let me just start with the technical side of the game’s controversy. Simply put, the game sucks.

I mean, seeing Rocksteady pull the game down from some select countries (the game has not fully released, just certain portions of it…unless you paid an extra $30) due to one of the worst bugs I’ve ever heard about completely sums up the development on this title. What is this horrific bug? Oh, it’s just that THE ENTIRE GAME’S MAIN STORY REGISTERS AS COMPLETE as soon as you start up the game.

Just…how? How is that even possible?

But the crap behind this game gets even worse as Rocksteady and Warner Bros. have REFUSED to offer major review publications, such as IGN, due to what I can only assume to be poor/negative reviews in the past. Yet, even though I think a lot of these publications and reviewers are nothing more than hack journalists with more agendas than you can shake a stick at, denying publications the right to review your title out of pure spite is the very definition of access journalism and gaming.

And, do we really want to see these publications become even more tainted and biased due to the fear of not being able to review these massive games? I certainly do not.

But, back to that really controversial bit I teased earlier, the main complaints I’ve seen about this title are not the bugs or the “walk-in-the-dark” reviews, but rather the very concept of Suicide Squad: KTJL itself. For those who couldn’t guess by the title, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is about…killing the Justice League.

Seems pretty straight forward, right? Well, it’s not as this Justice League is not just some random iteration Rocksteady has created for this title, but rather a continuation of the Arkham franchise narrative and universe.

From the few clips about Batman, Superman, The Flash, Lex Luthor, etc. circulating on Twitter, it really does seem like Rocksteady has taken all of that goodwill, love, and attention the Arkham games brought to the studio and flushed it down the drain.

Now, I’m not going to spoil what happens, but the whole premise of this game is really insulting to the famous characters as it makes them out to be total buffoons on numerous occasions and destroys a lot of the narrative bows the Arkham games gave to characters like Batman.

Anywho, we’ll have to see if Rocksteady can recover the reputation of Suicide Squad: KTJL when it fully releases on February 2nd, but I’m not holding my breath on that fact. And nor should you.
