Arsenal Still Have A SMALL CHANCE Of Winning The Title

It’s a small chance…but it’s still visible. Arsenal are not dead yet in the Premier League title race as that win over Liverpool was MASSIVE in saving their season.

So, you’re saying there’s a… small, almost miniscule chance?

Despite looking like they were dead in the water two weeks ago, Arsenal have rallied back and given themselves a serious shot at winning the title with their 3-1 victory over Liverpool to keep their small title chances alive. But, I still think they’re screwed.

Arsenal NEEDED to win that game against Liverpool two days ago.

If the Gunners were beaten at home by the Reds and dropped a full eight points behind them in the standings with under four months to go, I think you could have closed the chapter on Arsenal winning a Premier League title this season without even getting to the second act. That’s how screwed they would have been.

Yet, with that dogged, defensive, and really quite impressive 3-1 home victory over a Liverpool side that had not been beaten in 11 matches in all competitions and 15 league games, Arsenal now find themselves just two points behind the Reds with the same number of matches played.

Plus, I’d actually argue Arsenal is better suited for a late title run over this Liverpool side as they not only have the experience of making it all the way to April last season as the league leaders (before getting pipped to the title by Man City), but they also have an easier schedule left ahead of them than Liverpool (in my opinion).

So, does that mean I’m taking Arsenal to win the title and end their 19-year title drought? Uh…no. Absolutely not.

I’m sorry for all non-Man City fans as I’m sick of them winning as well, but City is just too good, too deep, and too experienced to blow a wide-open title race as this one. I mean, despite arguably having the worst of the starts to the season among all of their title rivals, Manchester City are only two points behind Liverpool with a game in hand on the Reds.

And they just got done absolutely drubbing Brentford 3-1 in a game in which they had 72% possession, 25 shots, 15 shots on target, 90% passing accuracy on 750 passes, 13 corners, a Phil Foden hattrick, and three goals all came with relative ease despite Mark Flekken, Brentford’s goalkeeper, having an amazing game. That’s just Manchester City in a nutshell.

Anyway, the reason I centered this article around Arsenal and not Man City is because I think the Gunners, rather than Liverpool, now have the best chance in stopping the Citizens from winning a record 4th-straight Premier League title. Arsenal has the best midfield and defense of all other Premier League sides, while their attack is at least comparable to that of Liverpool (1st) and Aston Villa (4th).

And, like I said, I think Arsenal’s remaining schedule is not only easier than Liverpool’s (and Aston Villa’s as well), but they also have less games with Liverpool and Villa both still playing for the title, a European trophy, and the FA Cup (with Liverpool also in the EFL Cup Final).

Will all this matter when they face off against Man City? Probably not because Man City is just that good. But I just felt the Premier League title race is now gearing back towards a two-headed monster in Man City and Arsenal with this result.
