Chelsea Are Really In Serious Trouble

This…is getting to be REALLY BAD. Chelsea have dropped points once again and seriously look like they might miss out on the Top-8 in back-to-back seasons!

Are Chelsea becoming a midtable club right before our very eyes?

Despite spending over a billion pounds and having the brand and history of one of England’s most prestigious clubs, Chelsea are having just as poor of a season this year as they had last year and look like they seriously will miss out on a Top-8 spot in the Premier League for a second straight season. And, even though it’s still early enough, I really think Chelsea might be doomed.

Top-8 in the Premier League must have been a BARE MINIMUM requirement for Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino at the start of the season. A BARE MINIMUM requirement.

Yet, after 23 games and 10 losses in those said games, Chelsea currently sit 11th in the Premier League on 31 points. A full 20 points behind league-leaders Liverpool (who have played the same number of games) on 51 points…and a full 20 points ahead of bottom-feeders Sheffield United (who have also played the same number of games) on 10 points. The very definition of average and midtable.

How is this possible for a club like Chelsea, who was one of the three most dominant teams in all of Europe over the past twenty years, to be looking at a second straight midtable season? I mean, it’s not like Chelsea haven’t spent money these past Summer and Winter transfer windows with them bringing in Cole Palmer, Djordie Petrovic, Deivid Washington, Romeo Lavia, Moises Caicedo, Robert Sanchez, Axel Disasi, Lesley Ugochukwu, Angelo Gabriel, Nicholas Jackson, Alex Matos, and Christopher Nkunku.

And these are the players they’ve spent on top of the 21 guys they bought in the previous Summer and Winter transfer windows. And yet they still sit in 11th place, which is only a place higher than their 27-year worst 12th place finish last season. Moreover, they just got beaten 4-2 by Wolves…who are now above THEM in the table on 32 points; and that team should have been blown out by Manchester United (a 6th place team) last Thursday!

Now, if you ask me, I think Todd Boehly and the new Chelsea management might very well go down as the WORST EVER Premier League ownership group to exist for they have singlehandedly turned a perennially Top-4 finisher and Champions League winner into a midtable, rudderless mess that will see itself destroyed by financial mismanagement before it reaches the top of the Premier League table.

Yes, the club is already under investigation by the Premier League for potential Financial Fair Play breaches under former owner Roman Abramovich, and they are in the sights of the Premier League again if they broke the Profit and Sustainability rule of no club posting losses beyond £105m over a three-year period.

And, seeing as how they have been shelling out their homegrown talents and Champions League winners like candy, I think Chelsea are in a bit of trouble here too. Why? It’s because their current crop of players (that Boehly brought in) are not good enough to bring in prize money from Top-4 finish, cup wins, league title wins, and European placements, while they are forced to sell the only players of worth at the club.

And who might those people be? Oh, that’s right, the ONLY PEOPLE WHO HAVE WON TROPHIES in the past for the Blues.

It’s just insane how badly Chelsea has been mismanaged and run into the ground in just a short period of time. Remember, it was only two summers ago when Todd Boehly took charge of this club and decided to fork out hundreds of millions on literal garbage cans posing as football players.

Maybe Chelsea will be able to get out of this rut and contend for the Top-8, but that really seems like a longshot for Newcastle United, Brighton, Manchester United, West Ham, and Spurs all occupy the 5th-9th positions. Do you really think Chelsea can finish above these teams? I certainly don’t.
