Deadpool might actually be Marvel Jesus. The first trailer for Deadpool 3 dropped during the Super Bowl, and it looks like it might actually save the MCU from its impending doom.
Deadpool vs. the TVA? Count me in on that one!
Despite being the most un-MCU and un-Disney entity that could possibly exist in Marvel, Deadpool might very well be the character that saves the MCU from its self-destruction as the brand new Deadpool 3 trailer looked very promising. And, like I said, this is probably Marvel’s last chance at saving the MCU.
What multiverse did we get sent into that Deadpool, one of the most un-Disney characters in the Marvel lore, is going to be the one character who has the chance at saving the MCU? Did the creation of She-Hulk, Echo, and Secret Invasion really cause such a divergence to jettison us off the sacred timeline?
Okay, being serious, Deadpool 3 looks really good. Well, I should say the very limited shots that were featured looked great.
Maybe I missed something massive, but I still don’t know what Deadpool 3 is going to be about aside from the fact that Wade Wilson is going to be working (and then fighting against if the trailer shots are in a broad chronological order) for the TVA in some shape or form. Oh, and Wolverine is also going to play a huge part in this movie as…well, he is the co-titular character of this film (Deadpool & Wolverine).
And, even though some may say that the TVA is still way too niche to Marvel shows, such as Loki and What If…, it does make sense for the TVA to come after Deadpool for he is a variant of sorts when he travelled back in time to kill his horrific “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” self (which I’m assuming is the variation from the sacred timeline), Ryan Renyolds right after he read the Green Lantern script, and maybe a baby Adolf Hitler.
That’s the kind of time shenanigans that will get the TVA onto your case, so it makes sense they will be the central antagonists in this film. But this is where I have no clue about the rest of the story as this first trailer was VERY, VERY broad and just said that Wade Wilson has the “chance to be a hero among heroes”. What does that mean?
It implied that Deadpool is going to be suiting up and going after someone, but is that going to be the variant forms of the Avengers? Variant forms of the villains? Is he going to kill off all the variant of Kang and somehow make the firing of Jonathan Majors and his inevitable replacement for Kang make sense? I’ve got no idea.
Personally, I hope Disney takes the REALLY retrospective story possibility and has Deadpool go through the various instances of multiverse and kill off all the crap iterations of the Marvel characters within the last 3-4 years’ worth of the shows and movie. That would allow for Marvel to complete change course and start off a brand-new slate of stories centered around the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and the Avengers that are still relevant and noteworthy to the story, while also not having to completely redo the MCU.
Will this happen? I’m 99.999% certain it won’t…but there’s still a 0.0001% chance that it might. That “Marvel Jesus” line has given me the slightest bit of hope that Marvel and Disney will abandon their dreadful storylines and take the sane path for the MCU’s progression.
Anyway, it’s still way too early to speculate on the story of Deadpool 3, so I’ll wrap this article up now with the cautious hope this movie can actually save the MCU.
