This could be the best Marvel game EVER! Marvel 1943: The Rise Of Hydra released its first cinematic teaser yesterday, and it’s not an understatement to say the game looks AMAZING!
We need to see a gameplay trailer…but this could be really good.
Despite having the worst run of Marvel productions since really the inception of the MCU, Marvel may actually have found a hidden gem in the rough as Marvel 1943: The Rise of Hydra has the looks of a fantastic action-adventure game! And, I have my hopes up high for this one.
So, if you couldn’t tell, I’m just A LITTLE excited for this game after seeing that trailer.
Truth be told, I really wasn’t expecting much out of any Marvel game coming up and that included Marvel 1943: The Rise of Hydra. Not only has the entire staff at Marvel, whether it be in the film, television, casting, costumes, visual effects, CGI, etc., been FAR BELOW their once lofty standards of just four or five years ago, but I’ve seen some VERY, VERY, VERY concerning things about the state of Marvel gaming in the recent weeks.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, just look over the Black Panther game Marvel and EA and see some of the stuff surrounding the development of that game. I won’t get into it here, but it’s just not good and I’ll 100% guarantee that game is going to flop hard.
Anyway, back to the ACTUAL game at hand, I was concerned about this title as Marvel just hasn’t had a great track record of late. And that’s putting it mildly.
I knew Marvel 1943: The Rise of Hydra had an independent studio (aka: not one monopolized by the Triple A club) working on the title, but I feel stupid now for not looking closer into who was leading the studio and how the studio was created. Regardless, I’ll get to that in a minute as when I saw the trailer yesterday, I wasn’t expecting much. But, boy, was I proven wrong and then some.
I know it was just a cinematics trailer, but it was done with a very impressive quality and attention! Every 1940’s Paris building, street corner, Nazi/Hydra guard, tree, burning car, and obviously the main characters themselves looked incredible.
Captain American and Black Panther (King Azzuri, not King T’Challa as this is well before his time) were the two stand out characters in my opinion as each one of them had a very impressive level of detail and animation, while the implication (at least I thought it was from the description) we can play as anyone of the four main heroes (including Cap and Black Panther) to hunt Hydra down is awesome!

Again, like I said, it is VERY EARLY on in the game’s marketing to get TOO excited about the project, but the potential of being either Captain America or Black Panther and battling it out against one another is just too cool not get hyped about! But you know what’s the best news about this game? It’s that Amy Hennig is the lead director on this project.
You know, the lady who was essentially the creator of the legendary Uncharted trilogy over at Naughty Dog?!?!?! Yes, she’s leading this project…which was the best news this game could have possibly of given us.
While her “co-creator” (and there are many doubts as to how involved he was in Uncharted’s creation) Neil Druckman has made an utter fool of himself after forcing Hennig out of Naughty Dog and making poor sequels in The Last of Us: Part II and Uncharted 4, Hennig has been silently building up Skydance Media’s gaming department over the last few years.
And now she’s back in style with this awesome trailer and HOPEFULLY amazing Captain America-Black Panther title! I just hope Marvel 1943: The Rise of Hydra is as awesome as the first trailer!
