Winnie-The-Pooh & Other Legends Are Being Disgraced…

Winnie-The-Pooh & Other Legends Are Being Disgraced... (Jagged Edge Productions-Winnie The Pooh: Blood & Honey-Trailer #1)

Is this really how these legendary characters should be treated? The complete mistreatment and debasing of iconic, legendary children’s literature characters, such as Winnie-The-Pooh and Mickey Mouse, is in full swing now with a new cinematic universe announced by the people who turned these characters into horror villains.

It may be legal, but it’s creatively bankrupt and unethical in my opinion.

Despite being staples of children’s stories and literature for nearly a century (and more than a century in some cases), famous and beloved literary and film characters like Winnie-The-Pooh, Bambi, Tinkerbell, Piglet, The Mad Hatter, Alice from Alice In Wonderland, Tigger, Piglet, Pinocchio, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse (Steamboat Willie version) and Sleeping Beauty, etc. are going to be paradoized, mocked, and debased to the extreme for the cheap profits of a brand new, crap horror cinematic universe by Jagged Edge Productions. And, if you couldn’t tell, I simply can’t STAND these types of films.

I know, I know. I probably sound like the one old guy at the end of your street yelling for you to stay off his lawn. I get it.

But, truthfully, I really don’t care if I sound like him as I can’t stand to see these legendary and beloved children’s character get abused with really low-level, debased films and productions. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, then I recommend you stop reading this article now as the stupidity of this story is only going to get worse from here.

If you’re still reading, then the reason why I’m writing this article is because Jagged Edge Productions, a very low-quality, cheap, uncreative “film studio” (if you can really call them one with the kind of shit they dish out) announced today they are producing an entire horror cinematic universe based solely on the classic children’s tales and the characters within that I mentioned earlier.

And, the real kicker of this story is this new universe is called the “Poohniverse”. Why? Because this is the same studio who produced Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood & Honey over a year ago.

How clever, right?

Now, I know the film did bring in a huge profit…compared to the budget of just $50k as the film made a whopping $5.2M at the box office…but at what cost does this rampant disrespect of past literary achievements cause the genre of filmmaking?

We’ve already seen Disney, Warner Bros., and those buffoons parody themselves into practical financial oblivion with the utter garbage movies and shows they’ve spewed these last 7-10 years to bring Hollywood into complete disrepute, but now these blatant, obvious, cash-grab IP thefts (just in the legal sense) are getting major coverage from the big Hollywood news outlets too?

In fact, the only reason I wrote this article was due to the sheer number of stories from well-known publications, such as The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, IGN, etc., written about this crap studio. No offense to the studio, but why is this announcement being heralded as some massive cinematic breakthrough?

It’s just a low-budget, uncreative film studio completely ripping off another person’s work, debasing it for “shits and giggles”, and then bringing in millions of dollars in profits from it.

But, just to wrap up, I’m obviously not arguing for the studio to be shut down for silenced as this is just a parody after all. A really bad one? Yes. But a parody nonetheless.

What I am arguing for is a return to ACTUAL filmmaking that not only produces memorable and meaningful stories, scripts, and characters, but also kicks the greedy, corrupt, phony, crony-corporate, and untalented stooges plaguing Hollywood to the curb.

Oh, and just leave Winnie-The-Pooh and all of those beloved characters alone. Is it really that much to ask?
