This team is literally pathetic. The Denver Broncos might be the most pathetic, useless team since the 0-16 Browns as they got DESTROYED 70-20 by the Miami Dolphins and fell to 0-3 on the year.
How do you give up 70 POINTS!?!?!
Despite having everyone’s expectations on the ground given their start to the season, the Broncos made themselves look even MORE USELESS than anyone could have imagined as they became the first team since the 1966 New York Giants to give up 70+ points in a single game. And, to be honest, I think this season might be even worse than last year’s debacle.
Okay, I’m not going to go into too much detail on that game yesterday as the stats pretty much speak for themselves with the Dolphins scoring 70 points, accumulating 726 total yards of offense, 350 rushing yards, 376 passing yards, 30 First Downs, 71 total plays, and punting just once. Essentially, the Dolphins scored. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. THEY. TOOK. THE. FIELD!
So, I’m putting that aside to focus in on the Denver Broncos. Or, better put, a team masquerading as professional footballers using the Denver Broncos logos, fields, history, and stadium as this team is not a professional football team with players making north of $5M+/season as a baseline pay. Right?
How in the world do you give up 70 points to any team, even if they are the high-powered Dolphins (who didn’t even have Jaylen Waddle yesterday), in the modern NFL?
I get teams like the 1966 New York Giants (they lost 72-41 to the old Washington Redskins), the 1950 Baltimore Colts (they were beaten 70-27 by the Los Angeles Rams), and the 1940 Washington Redskins (they lost 73-0 in the NFL Championship game to the legendary 1940 Chicago Bears team) as the talent disparity across the league was far less dispersed then than it is today. But you lose 70-20 in 2023? Is this a joke?
I love Sean Payton as a coach and I think he’s been one of the very best over the last twenty years, but how the hell can you seriously start off your tenure saying the last coaching reign (Nathaniel Hackett) was one of the worst and most disastrous coaching jobs in NFL history, yet get beat 70-20?
Vance Joseph, the defensive coordinator and the man Payton hired to replace Ejiro Evero (who’s defense only gave up the 7th least number of yards and the 14th least number of points despite going 5-12), should have been fired the very second the game ended, and Payton’s job now has to be under pressure.
Sure, it’s definitely early to say that Payton’s head is on the line after only three games, but HE JUST LOST 70-20!!!! No team in nearly 60 years has done that!!! I’m not saying he should be fired, but you can’t sit easy after giving up 70 points as not even the 0-16 Cleveland Browns ever lost by that wide of a score. It’s just pure incompetence on all levels.
And, even though Russell Wilson actually looked pretty decent yesterday with 23/38 completions (61% completion percentage), 306 passing yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, and lead the Denver offense to 363 total yards (which would normally be great), the Broncos need a full rehaul of their offense and defense. Especially the defense.
I’d honestly give Wilson another year at this point despite the poor record as he’s probably been the only Broncos player to actually play consistent (even if it’s below average from what he used to be). The Broncos didn’t lose this game because of Wilson and his decision making, but rather due to his receiver being unable to hold onto the football (cough…Courtland Sutton…cough) and the Denver defense being a total, useless, steaming pile of crap.
Honestly, the biggest factor as to why the Broncos lost this game is down to the management and ownership being even more useless than the Broncos defense.
They assembled this team, they got rid of actually decent members of the Hackett coaching staff and replaced them with morons, they haven’t given Wilson receivers who can actually get open and hold onto the football when it comes to them, they traded the organization’s soul for Wilson and gave him a ludicrous contract, and they hired Sean Payton to get the Broncos to the playoffs THIS SEASON!
Yes, the Broncos and Payton were talking about making the playoffs this season, yet it looks like they won’t see January football for the next decade with this defense and ownership.
To all Broncos fans, I’m really sorry. Even with your past success, you guys don’t deserve to suffer through such incompetence and stupidity that has turned your once proud franchise into a laughingstock.
