Finally, There Is Some KD Trade News!

This has to be the longest, most drawn out trade negotiations in history. Kevin Durant has yet to be traded, despite wishing to be moved three weeks ago. Thankfully, there was finally some brand-new murmurs that the Boston Celtics, of all people, are in for KD.

I have been crying out for the Celtics to make this trade ever since the news broke that KD wanted out of Brooklyn. A package of Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart/Derrick White/Grant Williams/Al Horford (one of the four), and 3-4 1st-round picks has been the rumored offering to Brooklyn for Kevin Durant. And, if I was the Nets GM, I’d snatch up that deal in a second.

Jaylen Brown is a young superstar the Nets can build their team around and he helps replace some of KD scoring talent, while one of the four players listed above can help supplement the loss of KD’ size and defensive responsibilities. Oh, and an additional 3-4 1st-round picks will be very helpful if (really, more like when) this Nets team goes into a full-blown rebuild after KD and Kyrie leave.

As for KD, this move makes the most sense if he wants to join a true contender. The Boston Celtics were only two wins away from winning their 18th NBA championship in the franchise’s history last postseason. KD clearly wants to win another two or so titles to cement his legacy as one of the five greatest players in NBA history.

Winning the Celtics their NBA-unprecedent 18th title would surely help do that.

And, trading Brown, one of the four role players, and 4 1st-round picks would not destroy the Celtics’ team as it would if Miami or Phoenix acquired KD. The C’s would still have Jayson Tatum, Malcom Brogden, Robert Williams, Payton Prichard, Danilo Gallinari, and three of the four players I listed above.

If you add KD to that mix, I can’t see the Celtics not coming out of the East again.

Out of all the teams interested in KD, the Boston Celtics have come out of the woodwork to be the presumed frontrunner. If KD goes to Boston, they should instantly be considered the favorites to win their 18th NBA title, placing them ahead of the Lakers as the most successful team in NBA history. Please make this happen Brad Stevens.
