The Cowboys SHOULD Go And Get AB

This may not be as crazy as it sounds. Antonio Brown has recently come out and said that he’ll only play for the Dallas Cowboys, and I think Jerry Jones would be stupid not to get AB.

Alright, I know AB’s history with jumping from team to team in the last four years. He forced his way out of Pittsburgh, completely obliterated the team chemistry and hopes of Jon Gruden in Oakland, played one game in New England, and “peaced out” of Tampa Bay after getting into an argument with Bruce Arians.

Yeah, he’s had an EXTREMELY checkered past that is unprecedented in sports history. But the Cowboys should still sign him to a one-year deal.

“Why? Won’t he just ruin the Cowboys’ locker room and chemistry too?” you may be thinking. And you’re probably right. There’s no way that AB is going to last for more than one year on any team, let alone the media-intoxicating franchise that the Dallas Cowboys are. To be honest, there’s an 80% chance AB doesn’t even make it to Thanksgiving if Jerry Jones went out and signed him.

But 80% isn’t 100%. And with the long-time owners’ absolutely blunders at the WR position this offseason, the Cowboys don’t have any other choice but to pick up the receiver-turned-rapper (yeah, I can’t believe I’m even writing that).

I still can’t fathom how Jerry Jones thought it would be a good idea to break up the most explosive offense in the NFL last season by trading Amari Cooper for a 5th-round pick, letting Cedrick Wilson Jr. walk, and relying on Ceedee Lamb, Dalton Schultz, and an injured Michael Gallop (who’s out the opening few weeks) to carry the offensive burden this season.

This is destined to fail, especially so given how Ezekiel Elliott has dramatically declined from his Pro-Bowl days back in 2016. Dak Prescott and this offense NEEDS another wide-out in order compete with the Eagles for the NFC East Division title (and the all-important home playoff spot).

Given how Odell Beckham is still injured with another ACL tear, Will Fuller has at least two injuries per season now, and Emmanuel Sanders has semi-retired, AB is the Cowboys last hope of a productive WR coming in from the free agent market.

This deal for AB seems like a no brainer to me, and it should be for Jerry Jones too. As long as AB isn’t asking for a crazy contract and term, I’d give him one final chance to see if he can still be productive in this Dallas offense.
