The title says it all. New texts have come out revealing that former Green Bay Packers QB Brett Favre KNEW he, along with other state representatives, was stealing money from the Mississippi welfare program for his daughter’s volleyball team.
How despicable must you be to have to resort to stealing from the poorest of the poor? Well, I guess Brett Favre would know as he’s done just that.
Like I said, texts from the disgraced non-profit founder, Nancy New, revealed that she and Favre were directly involved in diverting well over $5M to build a new facility for the University of Southern Mississippi’s Girls Volleyball Team, even though that money came from a state grant directed towards helping the poor of Mississippi.
The very same volleyball team that Favre’s daughter played for back in 2017 (when these texts were sent). Moreover, I should mention that, as of 2022, the poorest state in the United States is none other than Brett Favre’s home state of Mississippi.
According to World Population Review, 18.8% of the population falls into the Poverty Rate, the average median household income is just $44,966 (the lowest in the US), and 27.9% of the children (those under-18) classify as “poor” under the federal poverty guideline.
So, in other words, Brett Favre has been stealing $5M+ of Mississippi welfare money that was destined to go to the poorest children in the poorest state in the whole of the United States.
He truly is a reprehensible individual. How can you steal money from poor children for a volleyball facility without any hint of remorse (which Favre has not shown through his denials)?
Anyway, Favre isn’t the only person who was involved in this scheme. The former head of Mississippi’s welfare agency, John Davis, Nancy New’s son, Zach New, and the former governor of Mississippi, Phil Bryant, were all involved in Favre’s scheme, as well as their own.
John Davis was especially despicable in this whole situation as he not only gave the ‘green light’ to Nancy New (who was in charge of the grant money and where it was allocated) to help Favre with his project, but also had New allocate the welfare money for his own family and friends. Thank goodness the state of Mississippi has brought up charges of bribery and conspiracy against this fool.
Nevertheless, you are probably wondering if Favre has been charged with anything or if he will face prison time for stealing from poor children? The answer to that is yes and no…for now.
Favre has been served a civil suit, along with New and Davis, by the state of Mississippi for his role in this situation. But, due to it being a civil suit, the worst punishment he could receive is getting a fine of some kind. Though, all of this could change if Mississippi decides to up the charges to criminal ones, which I think they should.
However this situation plays out for Favre, whether he goes to jail for his deceit and malice or just has to pay a hefty fine, he’ll never be seen as the lovable, dumb gunslinger again. We now know that he has fooled us all with his ‘dumb, country boy’ persona as it has masked his horrifyingly greedy, callous nature all of these years.
The true sign of a sociopath, and a coward, if you ask me.
In my opinion, he should be removed from the Green Bay and NFL Hall of Fame if these allegations are proven true (which is a formality) and banned from representing the league in any facet in the future. Those who willingly and ruthlessly steal from poverty-stricken children deserve the rule book thrown at them. Hard.
