Who does this guy think he is? Al Capone? New reports from ESPN have said that Washington Commanders owner Dan Snyder has been caught bragging about his power over the NFL as he has gathered files of “dirt” on important NFL people like Roger Goodell and Jerry Jones.
This story is insane. Overnight, investigative reporters from ESPN released a bombshell article about Daniel Snyder and the seemingly invincible shield around him as, despite all of the controversies under his reign, he’s still the owner of the Washington Commanders. According to this article, the reason why Snyder is still an owner of the Washington Commanders is due to the fact that he has 20+ years “dirt” on everyone around him.
If these reports are true, then Daniel Snyder is utterly insane. And extremely dedicated to staying as the owner of the Washington franchise.
Who preemptively hires private investigators to gather exposing and unflattering details about 31 other owners, the commissioner of the league said person’s team is apart, and the officers and officials from said league’s office across a twenty-year time span unless they are either: A. a secret mob boss, B. a sociopath, or C. a ruthless criminal.
Now, of course, Dan Snyder has denied all of these allegations, but would anyone really put it past him? How else would Daniel Snyder have stayed on for so long as the owner of the Commanders if it wasn’t for this supposed ‘leverage’ he possesses.
As the article stated from a quote from a veteran owner, “All the owners hate Dan.” Dan Snyder, the pariah of the NFL for the past 20 years, has overstayed his welcome and will do anything to ensure his unwelcomed stay continues.
And, with a 3/4 majority vote from the owners needed to out Snyder, it looks like that resolve will play out in his favor. Especially if these reports are true and he has info on such powerful people inside the NFL hierarchy, such as Jerry Jones and Roger Goodell.
Unfortunately for the Commanders fans, these owners and Roger Goodell will not move against Snyder if he has really damaging information on them. They’ll want to keep their reputation, honor, financial incentives, revenue streams, etc. open and unblemished far more than they their desire to get rid of the Pariah.
At the end of the day, not only has Snyder’s threats cowered the owners into submission and silence out of fear of exposure, but his gross managerial incompetence keeps one of the most storied NFL teams in a perennial state of failure and turmoil.
Think about it, would Jerry Jones and his beloved Dallas Cowboys really want to see their arch-rivals compete for the NFC Championship and the Super Bowl again? What about the Giants or the Eagles, who are also rivals of the Commanders? And what about the 49ers, Packers, Buccaneers, Saints, Vikings, or the Rams, who would have to face off against the Commanders for the NFC Crown if they suddenly became good again.
Like it or not, Daniel Snyder may be a fool, a coward, and sociopath, but that only hurts one group of people if he stays quiet: the Washington fanbase and employees.
And that’s why we’ll probably never see Snyder get removed with this current generation of NFL owners in power.
