These guys are literal dogshit! The NFL really has a refereeing crisis as the refs made complete and total jokes of themselves last night in the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Green Bay Packers game!
How are you supposed to defend anymore?!?!?
Despite being the most popular, successful, and lucrative sport in all of North America, the NFL has seemingly hired the worst possible referees ever as the refs completely ruined last night’s epic game between the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs with their dreadful calls. And, to be honest, I’m not entirely blaming the refs here.
Okay, I know it sounds like I hate the refs and blame them 100% for the issues of refereeing in the NFL…which is 85% true as I did just call them dogshit in my opening line…but the NFL refs are not at complete fault for the horrible plague that has become refereeing in football. But, before I get into that, let me just recap for anyone who doesn’t know what I’m talking about.
Essentially, last night’s thrilling, winter Lambeau epic between the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs that saw the young Green Bay cheeseheads come together, put in their best performance of the season by a country mile, and defeat the reigning Super Bowl champion, newly made celebrity Kansas City Chiefs 27-19 with Taylor Swift and her celebrity cohort watching on. Sounds like a great game to watch, right?
Well, it was…until the final 2 minutes of the game.
Now, the refs weren’t the best last night and there was a few iffy calls prior to those final two minutes, but that’s expected for every game. You can’t expect the refs to be perfect…but what they did in the final two minutes was so horrific that it really makes me question if the NFL went to a Canton, Ohio local bar and picked out a dozen of the biggest jackasses they could find to referee these games. That’s how bad they screwed up the game.
First, they yet again fell for Patrick Mahomes’ fake run-out-bounds stick (I’m sorry, but Mahomes needs to be REALLY rocked if he’s going to bend the rules like that EVERY SINGLE TIME he rushes to the sidelines) as WHILE MAHOMES WAS STILL IN BOUNDS FIGHTING FOR MORE YARDS and got rocked by a Packers linebacker. Yet, they called a 15-yard personal foul penalty and gave KC a First Down to keep the drive alive.
Then, on the second play right after the monstrosity of a call, the Patrick Mahomes took a deep shot to Marquez Valdez-Scantling that was broken up by Carrington Valentine…due to Valentine OBVIOUSLY interfering with MVS. I mean, Valentine literally wrapped his arm around MVS’ neck and nearly bear-hugged him as the pass was still in the air and falling near MVS’ right hand, but no call to the surprise of pretty much everyone in that stadium, the announcers, the TV ref, and everyone at home.
Why? Well, it’s probably because they were making up that stupid Mahomes 15-yard penalty that cost the Packers just two plays earlier. I can’t prove that, but we all know that’s the reason why.
Anyway, the third and least problematic of the calls was a two-hand shove on Travis Kelce as the Chiefs launched a “Hail Mary” into the endzone with just 5 seconds left in the game. Now, maybe that would be a call if it was under different circumstances, but it was a30-yard jump ball with 8 different players all crowded within the same 10-foot radius. There’s obviously going to be more pass interference and infractions ON BOTH TEAMS during those moments, so that’s not a major complaint from me.
No, it’s those first two issues that really make football look like a joke sport, and it’s really down to two things: the NFL refuses to hire full-time refs on a full-time pay and the NFL is being braindead in pushing offensive football. Now, to make this brief, I hope my complaints about not hiring and training these refs full time makes sense.
I mean, why hire guys to OFFICIATE and the ARBITORS of the most important and lucrative sport in North America, yet not pay and train them more than if they were part time working at McDonalds? It’s stupid.
And, as for the push for offensive football, it’s true we all want to see points scored, big 50-yard catches, massive 99-yard rushes, and 35-28 ballgames, but I think I speak for mostly everyone when I say we don’t want to see that at the expense of defense and physicality. No one wants to watch flag football, and that’s what the NFL is becoming with these stupid rule changes.
Do better, NFL!
