The Cowboys Need To Tear Down This Roster…AND Management!

This is really becoming a disgrace. The Dallas Cowboys have ONCE AGAIN been humbled in the opening rounds of the playoffs as they got trounced 48-32 by the 7th-seeded Green Bay Packers!

Jerry Jones needs to step away from the Cowboys or else this franchise will NEVER WIN.

Despite being the 2nd best seed in the NFC, having a 12-5 record, and having 7 Pro Bowlers on the roster, the Dallas Cowboys got utterly smoked by the 7th-seeded Green Bay Packers (who didn’t have a single Pro Bowler) 48-32 on their own home field to get sent home before the conference championship round for the 28th STRAIGHT SEASON! And, I think it is very clear now that the big, fat, and greying issue with the Cowboys is none other than Jerry Jones himself.

How the Cowboys keep doing this is utterly baffling.

For a team that has the legacy of 5 Super Bowls (1971, 1977, 1992, 1993, 1996), a dynasty in the 1990’s, arguably the greatest ever coach (according to some) in Tom Landry (1960-88), arguably the greatest ever running back in NFL history in Emmitt Smith (1990-2002 with Cowboys), perhaps the most iconic quarterback for a brand in Roger Staubach (1969-79), and 32 Hall of Fame inductees, the fact that the Dallas Cowboys haven’t even made it back to the NFC Championship game since 1996 is embarrassing.

HOW?!?! How has this team not lucked its way through AT MOST two playoff games to play in the NFC Championship game? It’s not like making it to the conference championship game is some ungodly feat for a franchise as the Jacksonville Jaguars, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New York Jets, and the Cincinatti Bengals have all made the championship game in that same timeframe. TWICE!!!

And the Jags, Jets, and Bucs have made it three times since 1996 (well, if you include 1996 in the Jags case, but I will for this argument’s sake).

In fact, the only teams who have not played in a conference championship game for EITHER CONFERENCE since 1996 have been the Detroit Lions, the Cleveland Browns, the Miami Dolphins, the Washington Commanders…and THE DALLAS COWBOYS!!! I’m not even a Cowboys fan, and I’m pissed off as for how bad this franchise has been run over the last 28 seasons.

I mean, how the hell can the team with the joint-2nd most Super Bowl wins (only the Pats and Steelers have more with 6; the 49ers are tied with 5) be tied on a list with the Lions (who won their first playoff game since 1991 yesterday), the Browns (who haven’t reached a Super Bowl in franchise history), the Dolphins (who have been trash since the new millennia), and the Commanders (who were run by Dan Snyder for 20+ years) for teams who haven’t reached a conference title game?

It’s embarrassing!

Anyway, back to the Wild Card game, that was an unmitigated beatdown of epic proportions.  The Green Bay Packers had their way with the Cowboys and then some as they rushed where they wanted (143 rushing yards), threw all over the field (272 passing yards), destroyed the Cowboys offense at will, and scored like they were playing against 8-year-olds.

The Packers were up literally up 48-16 with 10 minutes to go in the 4th quarter, and Jordan Love, who played his first playoff game as a starting quarterback for the Packers, looked as though he was the incarnation of Aaron Rodgers, Brett Farve, and Bart Star combined out there.

And, when you see Aaron Jones rush for 21 CAR, 118 yards, and 3 touchdowns (1 more than he had all season long), you’ll realize that the Packers never thought of the Cowboys defense as anything more than doormats to wipe their feet on as they became the 1st 7th seed to reach the Divisional Round. Yeah, the very same Cowboys defense that finished 5th in point against and 5th in total yards allowed.

Now, don’t be mistaken in thinking that the Cowboys fought a close duel with their massive passing stats and 32 points as Dak Prescott, who really should be called the “King of Stat-Padding”, put up nearly double of his stats after the Packers scored their 48th point. It was just a flat-out awful performance that brings me back to my main point: JERRY JONES NEEDS TO GO!!!

Or, at the very least, Jerry needs to take a backseat and let a new coach and GM dictate the creation of this roster as even though he has drafted very talented players, he’s yet to draft a player with any real fight, grit, or determination. Maybe that’s more down to Jerry only hiring “yes man” and stooges to be his head coaches ever since Bill Parcels retired in 2006, but that still puts the blame back on Jerry Jones.

Ever since he booted Jimmy Johnson out the back door for essentially “being too successful” and “stealing the spotlight away from him”, the Cowboys have been a failed organization due to Jerry’s inability to assemble a winning culture. He’s done everything else right…except for bringing in the necessary people to cultivate his superstar talents as that person would probably upstage him in popularity and credit.

And that’s something Jerry Jones can NEVER LET HAPPEN!

I don’t know how he’s been able to draft and acquire all of the Pro Bowl, All-Pro, and Hall of Fame talent (for which he’s done all throughout his tenure to his credit) and not even reached an NFC title game since 1996 by just sheer luck, but I’m now starting to REALLY believe that Jerry Jones’ bad karma for what he did in the 1990’s to that Cowboys super-team is coming back to bite him. And that’s in spite of that team winning 3 Super Bowls in a decade.

I just really don’t know how else to explain why Jerry Jones and the Cowboys can’t get over the line and win just two playoff games!
