The Bears really are Aaron Rodgers’ son at this point. With Green Bay’s 27-10 hammering of the Chicago Bears on Sunday Night Football, Aaron Rodgers has proved that no matter how weak the offense around him is, he’ll always own the Bears franchise.
Last night featured one of the worst Sunday Night Football games we’ll see all season long. I know the Bears and the Packers have one of the oldest and fiercest rivalries in the NFL, but the recent matchups between these two teams have been painfully boring to watch.
The Bears haven’t won a game against Aaron Rodgers and his Packers since December 16th, 2018. FOUR YEARS AGO!
In fact, the Bears have only won three times against the Packers in the last ten years, even though they have faced off against the Cheeseheads 21 times since 2012. That’s a winning percentage of just 14% against their archenemies.
Why is this matchup still viewed as a ‘must-see’ by the NBC executives that it needed to be put on Sunday Night Football is a mystery to me. Anyone who watched the Bears in the past ten seasons, or knew about that winning percentage, could’ve guessed the result of that game before the kickoff.
When Aaron Rodgers plays the Chicago Bears, he wins. Every. Single. Time.
Funnily enough, that win last night put Rodgers all-time win record against Chicago to 23, passing his legendary predecessor’s, Brett Favre, previous record of 22 wins against the Bears. Now, Aaron Rodgers is 23-5 against the Bears as Green Bay’s starting QB, which is third best QB vs. One Team record in the NFL as he’s just behind Ben Roethlisberger’s 25-3-1 record against the Cleveland Browns and Tom Brady’s 33-3 record against the Buffalo Bills.
Can the Bears be any more humiliated by Rodgers and his domination over them?
Well, actually, they can as last night the Bears had a grand total of 228 total yards of offense last night. Not a great stat considering they ended up losing by 17, but you know what makes this even worse? Aaron Rodgers beat their entire offensive production with his 234 passing yards alone.
Even when the Bears offense has humiliated itself with its own incompetence, Aaron Rodgers has to just needle them once more. You love to see it…unless you’re a Bears fan.
Anyway, I’m not sure if the Packers will be able to retain their NFC North Division crown this season as the Vikings are coming on as one of the very best teams in the NFL. Still, there is one thing that is certain from Rodgers post-game interview, him and every other Packers fan is keeping track of how many times they beat the Bears.
And the tally is up to 104 wins in this great, but rather stale (for now), rivalry.
